Anywhere in the hill country will do well for you. How far from a big city do you want to be?

Just don’t come here and try to make it like the place you’re fleeing.
To many Californians ruined their state, now doing the same stupid stuff here.

Understandable. But I can say I’d never leave Colorado if it wasn’t for the political climate. I run about as conservative as they come. I’m from a small area I work In aspen on high end homes but live in a town with less then 5000. Being close to big cities is fine. I just want quiet.

Burnet, Marble Falls, Llano area would all provide work for an electrician. I suspect there is a lot of demand all around the Highland Lakes, especially around lake LBJ. All are an hour or so from the Austin metro area ... which is one of, if not the, fastest growing areas in the US if you take in the adjoining counties into account.

I've heard that before. Answer these questions: How many genders are there? Is Donald Trump your President? Should the wall be built out of concrete or steel?

I’m from a small area I work In aspen on high end homes but live in a town with less then 5000. Being close to big cities is fine. I just want quiet. I'm an electrician by trade. You cannot will not make any money in Texas doing residential work unless you own the company and have several crews working for you or you work for some shop like milestone but any man with a conscience couldn't do that. Sorry you're getting run out of Colorado. If I was in Colorado and trying to escape the hippies I wouldn't move to Texas. (We are 10, 15 years behind you TOPS with California migration) if I did pick Texas I sure wouldn't move to the hill country. As pretty as it is, it's leading the statenin the left turn. Id look towards Oklahoma more to the right, better hunting and more public lands. Well actually I'd move to Wyoming but if we are talking the south. If you are bent on Texas I'd move west of fort Worth towards Abilene if you like the more west Texas feel or outside between Tyler and Longview if you like the east Texas feel. Best of luck to you. PS I drive through Aspen and get claustrophobic. Strange place with stranger folks, but I hunt that area for elk. Get through there as quick as a I can. But boy that independence pass is a pretty drive.

Work wise I’ve been doing resi electrical for about 4 years. before that I worked at large surface coal mine. Wife has been a social service director at a nursing home for a few years As well. We have one 3 year old son, so family oriented areas would be great. Not in Jack County

Sun City is here and it has really created a lot of opportunity for folks that want/do work at retirement type homes and assisted living. On top of that the residential building market in the area is booming, lots of work.

Hill country is nice place to visit but wouldn't want to live near any of the major towns surrounding Austin / SAT. North Texas can be nice but we are getting crowded up as well. If I had no family ties or roots and was exploring options I'd be looking at Abilene area, or further up on into the eastern parts of the panhandle. That's just nice country and not too crowded.

Take a look at the Possum Kingdom area mostly high end homes and they don't mind paying for good and prompt service. Also one of the prettiest lakes in Texas.

Spouse and the siblings have a lot for sale in Muenster , Tx if you'd like to build your own home in a small German Catholic town. North Texas still has some rural and small town living but yet close to large towns and good hunting. Things are booming in the DFW area, anywhere close should have work for you.

We have one 3 year old son, so family oriented areas would be great. Might want to check out Weatherford, which is west of DFW. Parker County TX. Western part of the county is still very rural, but close enough to town, yet close to lakes and hunting opportunities. There is a lot of residential growth happening in Eastern Parker county (close to Fort Worth). Huge housing development going in which will keep tradesmen busy for years and in demand.
