I am looking at purchasing a LabRadar unit. Quick questions for those of you who have one:
- What kind of battery pack did you get with the unit ? I have read the one that can be purchased with the unit isn't very good / doesn't last very long....
- Did you get the Rest Plat or Tripod, my bench has room for either.. just wondering what folks think is best.
- Any issues with aiming at distance beyond 100yrds ?
My apology if this has been covered somewhere before.... I have been looking at Chronos for a while and decided this is the one....

I use AA or my usb battery. I always get good quality usb batteries so they tend to do well
I use a Qd mount for my tripod and mount it just next to my stand. I actually have it set up where the column of the tripod is touch the stand so the unit is half way over the stand and close to the barrel. I have gotten better results where they are parallel and close together.
I don’t think I have had it pick up readings at 100 or beyond unless they were my big 30 cal bullets. But I can’t remember.
It takes a bit of time to get used to. After your get it figured outs it’s great.

I just got battery pack from Amazon
I have not used my bench mount in two years and use tripod now. Mainly due to using Suppressors.
I have checked velocity while shooting 1000 yards

My LabRadar is a priceless unit for me when shooting. I use it almost every time I am the range. I have not used the battery pack. I keep AA batteries with me. The battery pack MUST be a 1 amp out put and no more. If the amp out put is different, then the unit will not function well. I use orange base plate that mounts to the bottom of the unit. I shoot mainly prone, but it works well for bench or prone shooting. I set up the chrono and aim it in the direction I am shooting, and it will pick up every shot as far as you can shoot. It will only read out to, I think, 250 yards. But you can program 5 different distances in the unit on where you want to pick up the bullet in flight, out to 250 yards. Here's my typical set up.

Are you getting that distance with 224 caliber bullets? My 224 I can get to 50-75 iirc
My 30 cals I Only set mine to 150 and get it most of the time

I've never had an issue picking up any bullets if you set it up correctly.

If you have corrections at various distances documented, you can work the data backwards and obtain retained velocity and energy, at any distance you like, in a good ballistic calculator.
