In Colorado then swung through kansas before I headed back home. We left Dallas last Friday around 3pm and pulled up to the cabin about five am. Spent till Thursday there then headed to kansas and now we will head home in the morning. Nine days off work sure was a good break. There is still a ton of snow in the mountains and the rivers were running really good. So we didn’t fish too much. My uncle did get a call the the ice just came off deer lakes a couple days ago and the brook trout were slamming the place. So we headed up there with a little three weight fly rod and had a blast. We were on the north fork of the gunnison in blue Mesa subdivision and just had a heck of a time. Views like this don’t get old.

Stopped by kansas after we left there to see my other grandparents and they live a few miles from Cheyenne bottoms wetlands. So I drove out there to see what kind of ducks were still around. Still have a ton of pictures to go through on the camera once we get home so I will get a bunch more pictures up. These were just some of them from my phone.

Great pictures! When I was a kid, we caught bunches of Cutthroats at Deer Lakes....of course, that was nearly 50 years ago....
Lake City is my favorite place on the planet.....Ute Trail Boys Ranch was a camp owned by a man from Dallas...off 149 near Powderhorn, along the Lake Fork of the Gunnison. In those days that part of the Gunnison was full of big trout. Spent every July there. The camp backed up to the San Juan National Forest.
Your pictures bring back a lot of memories!

Your pictures bring back a lot of memories! There are still some big trout out there. My grandfather subdivided the mountain into the subdivision many many years and my aunt and uncle have fished every hole with water in it out there for the last forty years or so. They know all the good spots.

Beautiful sites. Prettiest one is that young girl that has her arm around you though. Well done.

Thank you all. Just made it to the house a min ago. Put about 2800 miles on the truck in nine days and we ended up putting 200 miles on the side by side. Good to see you and her out having fun, y’all deserve it. Thanks buddy we sure did have fun.
