I own my property and after getting a quote for homeowner insurance with USAA, they will not give me an umbrella policy on my home/auto unless I also have "Land Liability Insurance" on my ranch. They claim, if the land has any kind of structure, even a small shed, they will not give me a home umbrella unless the ranch is also insured.
Question: 1. How many of you land owners have land liability insurance (also who insures it and how much is it?) 2. Does anyone own the land in an LLC to keep you personally not liable for an accident on the land?

All our rural property and Ag equipment is insured (including liability) by Texas farm bureau, lots of folks use Germainia.
There are several smaller companies that offer farm & ranch policies.
An LLC is one step / building block of comprehensive owner protections.
Liability insurance Identify dangerous conditions on your property, make legitimate attempt to correct or control ' visitor ' access. Written liability release forms signed by 'visitors', written in accordance to state law.
If you're really concerned about LO liability, LLC protection, might be a good idea to consult with professional specializing in Realestate / rural / farm & ranch properties.
Without knowing your situation & quite a bit of detail it's hard to say with any accuracy do 'this' and you'll be fine.

I have a small cabin on the property. I have another property in an LLC and I used varmintslayer on here for the policy.

I have liability through Texas Farm Bureau. Around $250 a year.

Same here. Texas Farm Bureau will cover you.
An LLC can protect you personally as stated above but not the property.

My home and autos are insured with USAA. I also have an umbrella policy with them, When I bought my ranch I did not need separate coverage as my home owners and umbrella policy covered any liability issues. When I began building my barn with living quarters, USAA required me to have a construction policy on the ranch. Once completed they required a vacation home policy. Both properties are covered by the umbrella policy.

USAA for auto and home. When we first bought ranch property we added liability and it was fairly inexpensive. Then added structure, so added second home coverage. The problem on USAA liability, it does not cover liability associated with commercial activity, so added liability through Texas farm bureau - through THF member. We may be double covered on some things, but the couple of hundred bucks a year gives me peace of mind.
