Spent this past weekend at TxHogslayers working on his CJ5. Had the pleasure of meeting RickyM and White Wing Maniac.

[Linked Image]

Started out the weekend with a quick flight to Houston.

Here’s a pic of it when he got it....

It had not been registered since 1995 so, it’s anybodies guess when it ran last.

We started and ended the weekend with wiring repairs so.... another pic.

It wasn’t long and his bride brought out breakfast.

Next up was a new carb, needed a couple trips to different places and few discussions to get it working properly.

Dinner was some BBQ and some Badass boudan!

Just a random pic.

We worked later than we should have but made progress jus the same.

I’m not much of a story teller but.... I can tell you this, I about worked TxHogslayer to death Saturday and we got more done than I thought we could with limited tools and time.

A BIG thanks to him for being such a great host!!

Worked pretty hard but was treated like a king!

I cannot thank John enough for coming down to get this Jeep back on the road. I am good at bolting new parts onto an engine but wiring, carbs, etc. are just out of my skill set. I had the goal of driving it last weekend and John made it happen. Rickym and WW Maniac stopped by and shot the breeze which is always welcome at my house.

Dont know how to post a video but here is a pic from when we got back from the first drive, right before taking the leaf blower to it.

That's awesome fellas! Sometimes I miss those days. Know it can be frustrating, but when that motor finally cranks, and your driving it, makes it all worthwhile. Paul, did you dump the J-10?

Janie I had to get rid of the J10 to make room for this one...

Here is the story of how I acquired this Jeep. It's a good one... roflmao The names are made up.

I moved to Houston from Atlanta in 2008 for a job recommended by a good friend,(Marco) living here. His brother(Polo) had a piece of land west of Katy and I went to help him work on it as I was needing a place to hunt. grin It had an old house we were gutting and fences needed repairs etc. One day Polo asked me to look at another piece of land next to his, says he was thinking of buying it. On that land was this old Jeep. I asked him if he bought the land could I have the Jeep as it would make a great project for my son and I. He said, "Sure, no problem". Unfortunately, his other neighbor, who was a county judge out there came in and bought it out from under him...

Fast forward to 2018, I am having a beer with Marco and he shows me a picture of the Jeep. I said,"That's my Jeep!" and bought it on the spot. I said to Marco, "That judge is in jail isn't he?" Marco said he was. I asked if Polo bought the property and Marco said that he thinks so. I went out to Polo's place 2 weeks later and trailered it home. Had it running after a couple of weeks thanks to the advice of many on here like John and Don K. After getting it running I started swapping parts. Well, in going through it I found an old insurance card with a previous owner's name on it. As it was a somewhat unique name (John J JIngleheimer IV) I googled it. Turns out he had a linked in account so I sent him a message saying that I had bought this Jeep and in my research found that he had owned it. If he could tell me who he sold it to I would like to get a title.. He responded right away and gave me his number. When I called him John said,"That is my Jeep, I have the title and I told Polo I was coming to get it. eeks333

So I called Polo and basically said WTF? So he says that he had pulled the Jeep out 8 months earlier for the guy and that he never showed. Now here is where the story get's good, thanks for hanging in there.

Polo tells me a story about a guy in Iowa that worked as a programmer or something for the lottery. Well, he had fixed it so that twice a year he could pick the numbers. He had a brother that would go around and buy the tickets. The guy buying the tickets happened to be a county judge here in Texas.... grin Then Polo tells me that the state of Iowa owned the property and that he was working to acquire it from them. I said to Polo, " Let me make sure I have this right. You took a Jeep that wasn't yours off of property that you don't own and sold it to me." Polo says yes. At this point my head is about to explode. Remaining as calm as I could I said, "Polo, I want you to replace the word Jeep with the word cow and say that sentence again."

So then I had to call John J. and buy it from him. Then get my money back from Polo. All's well that ends well though and now it is driveable. Whew!! I think that is the longest post I have ever made. roflmao
