Always wanted an O/U for clay shoots. Does a reliable O/U exist for under a grand?

x2 for Yildiz. They break in really nice. I have 2 20ga over unders, and went ahead and bought 2 20ga semi autos last summer for non shooters. Impressed with the quality for the price.
Ruger red labels are pretty sweet as well! And I have seen some winchester 101 come up for about that price.

I've had a few Brownings, a Winchester 101 Field and a 101 Pigeon.
I'll never understand why one kicks worse than another. It ought to be a simple thing as weight of the gun and recoil pad. And recoil was never an issue with me anyway, especially with something like Winchester AA target loads.
I liked the the Brownings I had best. The Winchesters were good. A friend's Ruger Red label would stomp on you. That's what I don't get, just weight of the gun against the power of the shell, right?
A friend once told me that he would rather have a name brand, good used quality O/U than a cheap new one. And the OP question referred to reliability. I guess something could fail. But that is about as few of moving parts as I could imagine.
My opinion is that if you aren't happy with your first purchase that a good used one won't lose as much as a cheaper model new one sold used. Good quality O/U shotguns just don't seem to lose money unless you are banging them up in the field.

AVOID MOSSBERG-- total junk and junk customer service. Had a weld break on the barrels and one slipped so far it wouldn't fire. Sent the gun back--- asked for replacement, marked receiver and barrels.
They told me it was replaced... then sent back the same receiver with new barrels.... never again, but I won it at a DU event so no love lost.
I would look at the newer Winchester 101s, Red Label, etc

I bought my son a CZ Teal 20 gauge O/U at Cabela's about 3 years ago. List price was $800, but I happened to see that they had it on sale for $450. I wish I also bought the same gun in a 12 gauge at that time. Very stiff at first, but nice checkered Turkish walnut, swings well with good balance...hard to believe it was that cheap. Same gun is now $850 and I still think it's worth that price.
I'd stay away from Mossbergs, they seem to have quality control issues. I'm not positive because I have never owned or tried to sell one, but I don't think they hold their value as well as others.

I suck at this sport. It's hard to get a good sight picture on a clay through my scope. I bought this thinking it may help. I like it, but then I don't know much at all about O/U's. I did dove hunt with it once, plenty of birds, and really enjoyed this shotgun. A dream to point and carry.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

I thought the Weatherby Orion was about $1000. Right?
Edit- more like $1100 but I have not seen a new gun for less that has ejectors.
All the budget o/u guns are only available with extractors. I wonder does it cost that much more to put ejectors in the gun? Seriously haha

I would go with a Weatherby Orion FOR SURE. CZ is not a bad backup option. I know some people like Yildiz and have had good experiences. But that is all online from my experience. Yildiz are an affordable O/U but should be $200 instead of $450 for what you're really getting.
