We've been feeding MG Deer Apple Scented Protein for 5 years mainly because of conveinance. We have it delivered along with corn. We feed a mix of both the corn as an attractant so they will eat the protein. We recently decided to go with Record Rack, what is your opnions towards record rack? The deer seem to be eating it w/o a corn mix.

I am a huge fan of Record Rack and they don't pay me to say so. There will be no need to mix with anything as the deer will readily eat it. In situations, where I have seen deer in the same area fed Record Rack and other good quality brand name feeds, I have thought that the antler growth was a little better with RR. I know that there are hundreds of variables but that is my opinion. As you know, protien is very expensive and the key to feeding deer is to remove the excess does and any deer that do not exhibit the qualities that you want to see in the next generation. The first thing that you should consider feeding deer is lead. I feel that you do not realize the impact of protien the first year you feed it, rather about the third year. Adios, Gary

I have used Record Rack Antler's Plus for several years and all my customers like it. +1 on not seeing big measureable changes until after about 3 years. It takes consistency, commitment, and fairly deep pockets, to supplement with an eye for the future. The same with feeding them lead (even though that's not quite the way I'd have said it). As you get healther deer, unless you have major varmint problems, your fawn survival rate will go up and also the incidence of multiple fawns. Your herd will grow.

It works pretty well from what I have seen. We don't use it. We have our feed mixed locally here in Gonzales.

We filled one of ours up with it over easter and there might be 30 lbs gone out of it by this past weekend, but all of the feeders are that way. Just too much for them to eat. Shoulda gave me a holler if you were in the area, I was on a mission last weekend trying to put a dent in the hog pop

I think it's time to invest in a night vision scope and a silencer. It sure is fun watching em drop and they have no idea why......lol

I shot 3, 1 each night wed-fri. that cool snapped had those boars out moving. Went riding all out through the pastures and only found deer, then get back to the house and the hogs are standing in the back yard.......go figure.

Deer are crazy about it - almost as much as the coons
It's right with corn from a palatability standpoint.
It's really high in fat content which is good for mama's milk. I wish they could kick the protein % up a little though.

Record Rack is a great feed, but there are locally made feeds that are just as good and cost less.
My wife's only thing is it can't stare at her when she is eating or sleeping!

It's not protein. Don't really expect a burst of antler growth from that. But its better than corn. It's missing a lot of good minerals. But better than corn.

I would spend every dime I had available to feed your deer a QUALITY feed. I wouldn't worry so much about gimmicky things like corn balls or whatever... I would feed protein if I had to make a choice between protein and corn (even for bait)...
It makes that much of a difference when you are religiously consistent over long periods of time.

Is it a must to feed RR year around or can you feed it about 3 or 4 months in advance to deer season? Tryin to save a few pennies.

Just my opinion but yes it is a waste to only feed for a couple of months. If you are only going to feed for a couple of months I'd start right after the rut is over. The sooner a buck gets his body weight back after being run down the sooner he can start putting more into antler developement. The least beneficial time to feed protein would be right before the season starts other then to draw deer into the area.

Well, we started feeding Record Rack this past weekend and no need to mix it with corn. The deer love it as is as well as all of the exotics. Neighbors cows are coming to the fence making a bunch of noise wanting some as well. Hog hunting is much easier too. Just give the hogs 30 minutes to get a wiff of it and there running out of the woods.
