As mentioned in off topic, that's the destructive hammerhead worm. Destroy with extreme prejudice. Your roots will thank you.

Dead snakes tell no lies.

Refusing to kill snakes that have traditionally been called "poisonous" has become the new way to elevate oneself within the outdoors community.

I noticed a Houston TV station just recently referred to "poisonous" snakes. I wonder how many calls and emails they got about that.

I’m just to the point of not killing a snake, or pretty much any critter other than invasives, unless I’m gonna eat it.

I don’t really care if anybody else kills one, but I always wonder why some folks think the way that they do.

I kill all venomous snakes because I would hate to leave one that kills the next person that it bites. I also kill all rat snakes due to their detriment to the quail population. Killing some snakes is part of land management if you know anything about the subject.

Timber Rattlesnakes (Crotalus Horridus) are not federally protected. They are, however, protected in and by every state where they are found.

That is not a Texas Blind Snake. It is a Bipalium (Bipalium kewense), commonly known as a Hammerhead Worm. Very poorly studied but are known to feed on earthworms and possibly other slow moving organisms.

The comment about elevating oneself, reminds me of vegans. I have been giving most snakes a pass ever since my stepdad got on me for killing a bunch of bullsnakes with a hoe one day. To me they were just a binch of scary snakes, I didn't understand why we needed them around. I didn't know any better at the time but at least I had a man to teach me.

I was taught to never kill anything unless you are gonna eat it when I was a boy. But I learned quickly that there were many exceptions to this rule! Some things need killin'!
