While I can remember numerous discussions on what items hunters keep in their backpack, I can't recall one where the focus was on what guys take with them when they go to the practice range. I use a plastic ammo case as my range bag that includes the following, in addition to whatever guns and ammo I'll be shooting that day... Multi-bit screwdriver Small hammer Various Allen and Torx wrenches for scope bases and rings Foam ear plugs Small bottle of gun oil Detachable empty casing catcher for my AR Ear muffs Cable lock for securing my firearm while replacing targets Needle nose pliers Choke tube wrench and grease Rags I'm sure there are those who need a tool cabinet on wheels when they head to the range. I know this because I've seen them.

I have separate bags for pistols and rifles. I don’t keep anything in my pistol bag. It gets loaded with the essentials when I know I’m going to the range. Ammo, mags, pistols, eyes, ears, etc. I don’t actually put any tools to speak of (other than a screw driver or punch) in the bag. Sometimes I put targets in the bag or at least shootnsee dots to paste on the free range targets.
For rifles I do keep tools such as Allen wrenches, pliers, screw driver, lens pen/cloth, etc. then I add ammo, mags, eyes, ears, targets, and such based on which rifle(s) I’m taking to shoot. Takedown cleaning rod for “just in case”.
I don’t take any cleaners, solvents, lubes, etc. unless I know I’m going for an extended Shooting session.
And yes I usually end up needing something I didn’t bring with me...

I don't care what bag I'm carrying there will be some zip lock baggies in it. Every now and then I'll buy something that has an accessory that comes in those really small zip-lock bags. I had put one in the console of my truck recently with the intention of finding a later use for it, but later decided to throw it away because I thought it might send the wrong signal to a LEO should I have gotten pulled over. It seems the meth and crack heads use them to keep their dope.

You have LEO's checking out your kitchen and bathroom?
