was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a good all purpose backpack for stalk hunting. Would like someone to keep food/drink and back up ammo. Fairly new hunter so i have been using my old high school backpack (which is camo) but it is starting to wear down from being 12 years old lol

Try nimrod hunting packs. They have 2 places for water bottle holders and will carry all your gear. I use the guide pack.

I use the tenzing lumbar pack.

It is a day pack but carries everything I need for stalking in the SHNF for a day or just going to a blind. I have been using it for years now and although I have bought a few other backpacks I always go back to that one.

Are you looking for a daypack or a backpacking pack?

Probably more like a daypack, main things would be ammo and water and food needed to be held along with some emergency pills and epi pen

Kifaru, Exo, Seek Outside, Stone Glacier, and mystery ranch are all extremely high quality packs.

Take this with a grain of salt cause you mentioned "value." I do consider mine value cause I hunt a ton and plan to the rest of my life with it but its not cheap. Daluth Packs and I forget the model. Its maybe 200 to 300 and then I paid someone to customize it specific for my gear. Since I customize it so much theres not anything special about their original design so the main thing it offers is that its extremely durable and stout cause I carry lots of heavy stuff and use it always. It has a draw string at top which I love and then a weather flap. It has pockets and straps and buckles all over the outside but I have all removed cause I don't want it hanging up or clanking or shining. One outside pouch with zippered cover for easy access to binos and small stuff. I have a sleeve/pocket sewn inside for my tripod that collapses flat(Cullman) against the back. Big pockets sewn on each side for my spotter and big camera. Big open area in middle for lots of "stuff". Probably very few that care that much about a backpack(daypack) but for me I look at it like my rifle or shooting sticks or underwear in that "I don't leave camp without em". As usual my 2cents.

At some point in life its time to quit chasing the pot of gold and just enjoy the rainbow. FR

Check Academy mid deer season... I was in there stocking up on corn a couple of years ago and they had all theirs on sale. I always use a HUGE backpack because I prepare for the worst. I paid like $40(actually high $30's) for it, and have yet to fill it up!! They have one for evey need, however, just go look!! Another Ace to try is a Military surplus store. Get yourself a large rucksack with frame. Carried one for quite a few years and miles and they're STILL one of the most comfortable around!

511 rush 24 pack is what I use. Plenty of room for my deer and duck toys.

For a small daypack, I've enjoyed my Eberlestock Mini-Me that I've had for around 8 years now. It's not real big, but it's very versatile. It comes with a 3L hydration bladder and hose. There's a wraparound zipper that allows it to expand and there's a rifle scabbard they offer that can fit in this area, they also offer a bow bucket that lets you strap a compound bow to the outside with a quick release feature. It has a built-in bird bag (have used this on a few dove hunts as well as to just carry extra stuff when needed). There's a hidden hip belt (does use up some of the interior space when not deployed, as does the game bag), along with lots of attachment points all around.

Badlands had a great sale last Sept, perhaps another this fall. We have several packs and they are good ones. Good warranty too.

I believe that's what I have to. I use mine for traveling and hiking, so I'm sure it'd be great for hunting. I was going to suggest a 5.11 as an option.
