Looks like a mare in the pic..... I am not sure how many are roaming around now days. When I got on in 2012 there had been a ranch fire and that is when they got onto our place. I believe there were 5-6 then IIRC. At one point we had thought they had been moved back over to the neighbors but they keep showing up randomly from time to time.

We had some while in Africa, it was just ok. I'd like to try it a few more times before I go around calling it "good"

They are very good eating I hear. Always heard this... think of eating a farm raised horse in America and everyone complains, its nasty, its wrong, yuck etc... but change it to an exotic horse lol and its the best eating to be had. I value peoples ratings of the food quality of the animals they shoot very little. Listen to people rant and rave about stuff and when I finally get to try it I usually find myself severely underwhelmed and I know my way around the kitchen and how to process and prepare food.
It's hell eatin em live

That is good to know. The only game I have ever eaten is deer, squirrel, rabbit, caribou. And froglegs if you consider them game. Have had alligator in restaurants. In my limited experience, it seems like the more cute something is, the better it is to eat. Cute, fluffy, soft, etc. Like cottontails cottontail rabbit is my favorite game meat. If you consider them game. Those zebras are pretty cute...

Likely because you've already got your mind made up before you actually try it because you're the same guy that says axis are no better eating than whitetail, while the rest of the planet disagrees with you. Mountain zebra steaks are fantastic. Plains zebra steaks are just OK to me. I've actually eaten them both and not just read about it.

I look forward to eating zebra
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.
