Heading to NOLA in 2 weeks.
Wanna pick up some really good boudan on the way back.
Had some from the crawfish town USA meat market last time we went, was pretty good.
Was told by a few people to go to Don's Specialty Meats.
Seen their website, could be a very dangerous place for me to go.

If you've been there, is the boudan awsome or what?

Billy's and Best Stop, Best Stop is a just north of the freeway in Scott, the other two are south and pretty much on I-10. Don's is like the Wal-Mart of boudin, Billy's and Best Stop are more Mom and Pop.

I think it's the best. Get some Boudin balls also, flour 'em up and fry. They are bon ton cher! Don's also has good cracklins.

They have a store on I-49 just north of Lafayette if you're heading to D/FW.

roflmao I love boudin!

For an I-10 run.....

The Boudin Kitchen in Sulfur makes good boudin, its got a little more liver in it if you like that.

Like others have mentioned Best Stop is very good, one of my favorites.

Dons is good but a little pricy IMO. Good cracklins & stuffed meats. They also sell alligator tenderloins there (frozen) that are good.

Billys is real good, love their boudin, boudin balls, and fried roll ups stuffed with boudin & pepper jack. That place stays jammed up though and long lines most of the time.

My favorite boudin comes from NuNus Fresh Market in Youngsville/Lafayette (not the NuNus in Broussard). Everything there is top notch. Their tasso, chicken jalapeno sausage, & pork & green onion fresh sausage is bad azz too.

I still havent tried Petes yet.

Those are my favorites off of I-10. The other places I really like for boudin & hog head cheese are a good ways off of 10.

These guys know their Boudin. Go here.

Then stop at Poche's in Breaux Bridge and buy yourself an assortment of stuffed meats.

In Breau Bridge, there's a little building on the north side of I-10, not the one in the Holiday Inn parking lot but a stand alone wood building about a half block north. Good boudin but get some of their smoked boudin.

I just remember growing up, knowing those white, grease soaked cardboard boxes had the BEST dang stuff in them.
Boudin balls and cracklins. Good Gawd those were good!

Boudin King in Jennings used to be the place back in the 70's. They make a mass-market version now called "Cajun Way.". It's still really good, but not like it was back when they had the gift shop with the big stuffed alligator. I got stopped by a LA Hwy Patrol about 25 years ago leaving Boudin King waiting at the light to get back on 10. I was sucking on a piece of boudin, he pulls in behind me and lights 'em up. We chatted a bit and I finally asked him why he stopped me. He said, "Oh, when we see a guy in a truck with Texas plates eating boudin, there's a good chance he's got a beer in his lap."

Turtle stew, or a turtle sauce piquant is hard to beat. Alligator sauce piquant is something special also. I believe there's some recipes/videos on YouTube. up
