Running fine until it wasn’t. Sitting at idle and dies. It turns over fine but won’t fire. It’s got good gas.

Had to have one replaced on my Gator.

I might actually have a fuel filter in stock. I haven’t checked a thing. I’m too old and stove up to move like that anymore. We’re just gonna put it in neutral and push it back in the garage. Gotta get it fixed though. Back forty needs mowing.

Short between the steering wheel and the seat

It’ll crank but not fire or sputter. Like the coil wire was pulled. ...or the seat switch is activated. Gonna check that. The fuel is good Ethenol free fresh gas.

It’s my wife’s tractor, so tread lightly. She CAN take you.

I was gonna guess nut on the steering wheel.

Fuel pump on my Mule did the same thing, turned over but would not start.

I now keep it half full since the fuel pump sits in the tank.

I will say again, fuel filter.

You have spark, and air, that leaves one thing...

Take the spark plug out, hook the boot up to it and ground the plug to the head, or metal piece on the engine.
Turn the engine over and look for spark.
Could be your coil going bad.

It’s a water cooled Kawasaki V twin engine. I think we can assume it has air. I have not checked spark. Or fuel. Just pushing it back in the garage is wearing me out.

They make an in-line spark tester to see if it has spark. Can pick up at any parts store. $5.00-10:00 at most. Unplug a plug wire and install it in series between plug wire and spark plug. Turn it over and will light like a test light if getting spark to plug. Good tester to have on the work bench peg board.

Old School spark test - pull plug wire, stick Phillips head in the boot, hold screwdriver shaft near frame and look for spark.

I’ve got several mech friends, all pros. I’ve passed the word to three of them. Now we wait and see who loves me more.

Just be sure the screwdriver has a insulated handle

should be a squeeze clamp on the fuel line at the carb, take line off and crank it over with line in a can or bottle.

old school spark test is good but hard to do on that engine I think, easier with the pulled plug and also lets you see if the plug is wet.

ask the wifey if she is hinting for a newer/larger tractor, maybe she rigged it so you would feel bad about breaking it?

Engine Will Not Start

· Brake not pushed down.

· Brake not pushed down.

· PTO switch in ON position.

· Upper (switch) fuse blown.

· Fuel pump fuse blown.

· Spark plug wire(s) loose or disconnected.

· Spark plug(s) not gapped correctly.
