I passed up a penny on the sidewalk today. Do you guys pick them up? Yeah, but I prefer dimes and qtrs. It's that kid thing in me plus I've been saving coins: nickles, dimes and qtrs for a l-o-n-g time now. The pennies are used to just round off small purchases for the above coinage. A little harmless OCDness or whatever disorder, I guess.

We have been saving change for years to finance vacations. Getting ready to cash in the latest load, been a couple of years, guessing somewhere between $650-$750. I read that the average value of a pound of mixed changed is $12 per pound, we have 50-60 lbs Update: cashed in $641.39 today, and found 6 wheat pennies in the mix that I set aside

Cash it put the folding money in there then fill it up again. , That's not a bad idea, I hadn't considered that but I think I will do that with ours.

My bank used to have a machine in one of the branch that I took my change to and they would process it for free. No longer there. Those crazy Coinstar machine charge an arm and a leg. We used to save all year and then do something fun with the kids with the three of four hundred dollars we got...

We have one for each of our boys, probably about half full each. The reason the banks removed the coin machines from the lobbies is the constant noise!! Those things will drive everyone crazy!
