Clear springs in New Braunfels are good too X-2 for sure! Love that place. Fried catfish, chow-chow, onion rings, unsweetened tea. I'm in.

Hut's in Austin and Spanky's in Lubbock have great onion rings. Porky's Hamburger and Onion Ring Co. in Fredericksburg aren't too bad either.

I once started a thread about picky eaters. Several people replied that they would not eat onions until someone brought up fried onion rings. Into longer deep fry at home and haven't had them in quiet awhile. I asked if they had onion rings the last time I went out for Po boys at Tads south of katy. To me onion rings only come two ways. Good and better. These were as good as I've ever had. Where do you find great onions? I find them at Tads, or www.simplyrecipes.com that is I admire your meticulous cropping capabilities

The Sale Barn Cafe in Groesbeck has outstanding onion rings. And the Rocket Cafe in Robinson (next to Waco) has great ones too. Both places have hand cut onion rings. Not too big, not too little, and fried just right. Never soggy.
Last time I was at Alamo Springs Cafe, the onion rings were huge, but a bit soggy. Man, what a burger though.
Used to be that the best onion rings in Texas were at Grumpy’s in Flatonia, but they closed up years ago.
Heck, I said all this at the front of this thread. Oh, well...

The Sale Barn Cafe in Groesbeck has outstanding onion rings. Back in the 50's my grandpa would take me to the sale barn in San Angelo, the treat was going to the café, We each got a hamburger and shared plate of onion rings. if it was a good day, we also stopped at Lowake steakhouse on the way home, they also had good onion rings.
