I've yard bird hunted in some really windy conditions. Throw in the cold temps like this past weekend and I'll go so far to say it was effing miserable. It also made every bird in Brown/Comanche area about as shut mouthed as a cheating husband....well not EVERY bird. Got lucky on this one who wanted to play the game. I saw one post where the Denton County birds were vocal. Where were you hunting and what did you see/hear? Did you freeze your keester off Sunday morning?

Congratulations! I never had much luck calling. I did kill two with one shot (.243) during deer season years ago.

Very windy and 36 degrees in south San Saba county. Did not see one bird but the camera says they are there. Just at select time, get em next week.

I thought "yard bird" is chicken. Technically sir I believe you are correct! My bad as it's a force of habit. I grew up in ETX and both sets of grandparents had all types of livestock and fowl either in their pastures or in the yard. My Dads parents lived on a pretty big tract of land and had turkey, geese, ducks, chickens, guineafowl. heck they even had a peacock. Anyway grandma would always be yelling and me and my brother and sister "LITTLE BURR! (one of my many nicknames) YOU BETTER STOP CHASING THOSE YARD BIRDS AROUND!" We just thought it was fun to chase the heck out of all those birds. Those geese would get fed up with it and turn on your arse though. Then it would be you getting chased. Hence because of grandma, dang near every bird I see is a 'Yard Bird". A side note to this story: I do believe that my Uncle Jerry Bob killed that peacock. That dang thing was screaming all the time..One night it just vanished.
