Another fun weekend with the FLIR PTS536. I really hate I waited so long to take the plunge into thermal. It's like picking up hunting all over again for the first time. 2 on Friday night. And one on Saturday night. Thanks again to Jason at OLG for steering me in the right direction for my type of hunting.

Very nice! Makes me envious. I pulled the trigger on a Zeus thermal early February, but got unlucky with a faulty unit. Now I'm in FLIR customer service limbo with no end in sight

No hogs this weekend, but the coyotes were out in force. I watched this group come across the neighbor's pasture (which is 600 yards across) and run some deer off. They came into my field and the biggest one went to the feeder area to check out some raccoons. I shot him, then the others took off. One stopped and looked back, shot that one. About an hour later the third came back looking for the other 2 and, well, you can guess.

Got the videos from the 3 coyotes uploaded. The first coyote is at 110 yards, the second 170, the third 120.

Another pretty good weekend. I think I haven't found the max range for the 536 yet. Thursday night I only had one boar come in- around 10 pm. He wasn't going to stop at the feeder (156 yards), but he did pause for a second. Saturday night I didn't go out- after the news I thought I'd take a quick look out the front door. At the Tank feeder (310 lasered yards) there was a single hog. I went back in, got some hearing protection, sat down and rested on the porch railing and zoomed to 16x. The shot looked good and the hog took off. For some reason, no recording. Rode down in the pasture the next morning and found him 75 yards from the feeder.

Very nice! Really enjoying mine. Ordered an external battery for the PTS over the weekend so help save some $$$ on the batteries. Looking forward to taking it out this weekend to do some damage to the population.

Looking forward to taking it out this weekend to do some damage to the population. I'm using rechargeable CR123 batteries and the battery life is very good. I sit out for 4-5 hours, but I'll turn it on, scan for a while, then turn it off and wait for a while and then repeat. The batteries don't even show any drop below full when doing it that way.

Interesting. I've heard more often than not that rechargeable shouldn't be used due to voltage fluctuations - but I've also read a few comments that people use them without any issues. Which ones do you use? Might get some and give them a shot.

CR123These are what I’m using. Of course they show “unavailable “ now. Also had good luck with these: ZeasunFrom what I was able to find on the net, if the batteries are 3.7v and 700 mAh, they are good to go. I’ve had no problems with either of the above.

Might just be my unit but they fall fast. I know how many hunts and it will go green, yellow red pretty quick. Change batteries and good to go though

Haven't sat out in a while- been too busy. Last Friday night I was at the house and about 8 I saw a boar down at the feeder behind the tank. Grabbed the Bog Pod, put on the bug shirt and slipped down there and popped him at about 75 yards. Went back up to the house and got the 4-wheeler and went and sat in the big field for a couple of hours and shot one that went down, one that ran off, and crossed the creek, and saw another one eating wheat but couldn't get a shot before a deer spooked him and he ran off. Going to go after them again this weekend.
