Left rear went flat quickly. Just aired everything to spec a week ago. It’s a 2012 825i. Is it time for new tires? Does DT have them? These original tires have held up well, needing some air every year or so. This one was good one minute and completely flat the next. I’m betting it’s done.

Try plugging it first.

Got no plug kit. Aren’t you supposed to replace old tires? These are 7 years old.

I'd plug if still has good tread ... only reason to replace every 7 years would be for highway speeds as the UV can destroy or breakdown the rubber ... but on a UTV I probably wouldn't be concerned as much, kinda like a tractor.

Yeah, after I typed that I realized the 7 year rule didn’t apply to low speed vehicles. The Gator can run pretty fast, maybe 50 mph, but very rarely do I punch it.

I’ll see if I can get some help to remove the flat where it sits and take it to DT. they’ll patch, not plug, for free.

I had the same problem with mine. The bead was not seating. Take the wheel off, put a few pounds of air in the tire, and bounce the wheel/tire like a ball, rotating between bounces. Put sealant in tire, air up to specs, and you should be good to go.

Yes I need help. Getting down and back up is difficult these days. I have everything I need except the body. Getting old and weak sucks.

Seven years old...check the base of your valve stem. Probably has several cracks. Need to replace them.

When you aired them up a week ago you must have used Winter air when you should have used Summer air.

Air it up and spray Windex in the suspected area. You should get bubbles at the leak. Put a screw in there and see what happens.

I’m hung up between taking all four tires in for slow leak fixes and loading up a trailer to haul the Gator to them. The tires are cracking a little from age. DT might not work on them I just realized.

Update -

DT says 10 years is the cut off for age, but he said that wouldn’t matter on the Gator. So, I guess I need to move the vehicles out of the garage and limp the Gator in, find the jack and turn the compressor on.

when I started having tire issues on my old Kubota RTV and needed to replace tires, I found it to be much less of a hassle and about the same price to order the tires I wanted already mounted on wheels.

Be sure to check the Schrader valve as well. Couldnt find a dang leak for my life on a mower tire that would go flat after 2 weeks. Silly me would air it up and immediately put the plastic cap back on the stem. After finally getting frustrated with a bottle of soapy water, I pulled the entire wheel off. Stuck it in a kiddie pool and found the smallest bubble coming out after the valve stem cap. Pulled the cap and huge bubbles coming out of the stem. Took my Schrader valve tool and sure enough that SOB was loose. Tightened it up an it still leaked. $1.25 later at oreilly and it doesnt leak anymore.

'Free' at DT is not worth it. I refuse to do business with them.

If it's the bead, just air it up and drive it around for a few minutes. If that doesn't seat it nothing will, given that it's not a new tire.

I don't know about utv tires but they will not plug tires anymore and if you have or had slime in the tires they will not repair them at all ,if its just a thorn in your tires best bet is get a plug kit and do it your self not very hard to do or labor intensive even with a bad back . also if you are using slime in the tires find something better than that green crap they sell at Walmart etc etc.

Just A FYI the fix a flat in the can ruins a truck tire from being repaired as repair shops no longer use plugs the patches will not stick to the inside of the tire anymore after using fix a flat. Found this out the hard way . I threw away my fix a flat cans in my truck for emergency repair and got a Pro plug kit and a small 12v air compressor to take it's place . works better than ruining a $250 tire.

This. A plug kit and 12 volt compressor is a must. I have carried both since I started driving. I also carry a small thing of kitchen soap, a small bottle sprayer and water. Mix some soap & water in sprayer, air tire up and start spraying till you see it bubble up. Also smart to carry needle nose pliers in tire kit also.

One other thing for tire kit, even thought they don't need it, I use a little bit of glue on my plugs just to help lubricate them and make it a little easier to push into tire. Sometimes without it they can be pain. I use a bank bag or similar for my kits. (my truck, wifes truck and two mules) Amazon sells some nice 12 v compressors.
