Tanning a raccoon tail

Id just like to tan the tail, how would you do that?
Ive never tanned anything before

Cut around the base skin down far as you can then cut the tail bone. Stick a big straw into the tail and fill with salt or borax and leave it for a week then empty and put in new salt for one more week and so e

Or try to anyway, Ive been watching some YouTube videos
Ive now caught 2 raccoons in 2 days
We lost 14 chickens over a two week period apparently were covered up

Order yourself a tanning kit from van Dykes supply online, you'll get enough to tan a couple of coons, borax or salt does not have any tanning ability at all. Good luck DC

I have coon tails hung in my gun room from 20 years ago by doing exactly what sapper recommended.

I have a coon skin cap. Had it professional tanned, wifey did the handy work for me.

+1 for borax and uniodized salt mixture. Have several squirrels and tails done that way

Ive got a few fox tails that Ive had for 20 years in the house. All I did was put some salt on the exposed bone after cutting tail off, then hanging out side for a while.
