What happens with something like that, does insurance cover it?

That one was a freak accident as the truck was in park and slid in because of the slime.

I wonder if the parking brake was set? Without the parking brake set, and only in park, wouldn't that only be holding one rear wheel?

The ramp isn't really all that steep. You should see the launch ramps at Walleye Park at Cypress Springs. They are the steepest I've ever seen.

I have always had a habit of using the parking brake on the loading ramp just to keep from "clanging" the shifter / transmission when switching from park back to drive. I guess it has been a good habit.

I do feel bad for the guy. I heard a story worse than that, but it was second hand. Two years ago, when we had a decent freeze, somebody drove their dually out on the ice of a small lake. A fellow duck hunter I met witnessed this alleged event.

I hunted around the time of the freeze at the same lake but didn’t see this. The ice was so thin, I was able to walk in the water and break it up without tearing up my waders to create a whole for my decoys. My buddy’s 45 pound dog couldn’t even walk on the ice without breaking through.

So, this guy tried to drive his huge pickup out onto the ice and immediately fell through and of course couldn’t get out, so he swamped his truck.

Funniest/stupidest truck in the water story I’ve ever heard.

The parking brake only holds the rear wheels as well.
