Any brake will help reduce recoil. The radial brakes do help reduce recoil, but again, not near as much as a 90 degree slotted brake or rearward facing brake. The Vias style brakes (ported 360 degrees) do help, but the holes blow gases outward and sometimes slightly forward with the way they are cut.

Precision Armament M4-72...this one won an unscientific 308 and 5.56 test for most recoil reduction but it had nothing to do or say about any accuracy loss

Here. No opinions, just scientific testing. Yes JEC has delivery problems, so count them out. I compared the Live Oak brake to the JEC, because I own three JEC brakes. and know what they do. JEC also scored very high in this official test. If it were to be ran again, my money is that the Live Oak brake would receive top honors. But it did not exist when this test was conducted. https://precisionrifleblog.com/2015/08/21/muzzle-brake-summary-of-field-test-results/

the muzzle blast to surrounding shooters is unreal I can confirm. I laid next to it last July and now struggle to walk and chew gum at the same time.

But it won what now? heck, i don't know, maybe it won the cardboard cookie award or something for producing the greatest amount of resistance to recoil (24 brakes tested on the ar 308) in a simple slide test. something else i saw was how proficient it was at keeping muzzle rise down

I can recommend two for sure and have a brand new one that comes highly recommended sitting here to try as soon as the new Nightforce shows up. The JP Terminator keeps you on target better than anything else I have used so far. It’s big and loud which was exactly what I wanted for my application. In our local unlimited 1000 yard matches anything goes so after shooting next to 338 Lapua’s with breaks when I built my 28 Nosler I looked for the biggest loudest I could find. As an old college defensive back I like dishing it more than receiving. Man it gets everyone’s attention.
Next I just recently used a Patriot Valley Shockwave on the 300PRC and it’s self timing and also works very well and based on feedback from range folks not as loud as the JP.
I have the Canadian made Insite Arms Heathen MB here to try but been so busy hunting coyotes have not yet tried it. Will first run it on the GAP 6.5 SAUM just to see how it works and will also try on the 300PRC .....it’s also easy to install and self timing. I’ve got an Insite Arms Heathen and really like it. It’s loud, but not abusively so. Makes a threaded 6.5 Creedmoor Tikka feel like a .223 or less!

Shot my Tikka today with both the Live Oak and the APA Little Bastard. Both functioned well, allowed for easy follow up shots and easy to change. The APA Little Bastard was significantly louder.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

Any POI changes, or accuracy differences? I may just have to bite the bullet and get the Live Oak. I think the APA is just slightly quieter than mine, and if the Live Oak is that much better, I may just make the switch...

Years ago, I had a custom brake installed on my 378 Weatherby Magnum MkV. Customer. Brake that is barrel diameter and does not look like a corn cob screwed onto the barrel. Smith in Plano, TX did the work. Too many years now to remember his name. Reduced recoil from un-godly to that of bout a 180 grain 30-06. Rifle will shower you with overhead awing dust and clear several benches either side of it at the range when fired though.
No high fences. We don't hunt zoos. Hunting free range, fair chase game for over 50 Years.
