Last fall I had two friends from Denmark come to hunt with me where I live in the Hill Country and also on some property I have access to on the Rolling Plains NW of Abilene. The guy got a tremendous buck in central Texas (shown on a thread in Deer Hunting) and another in West Texas. He also took a really nice turkey and a scrawny coyote in West Texas. The lady got a buck in central Texas and a beauty of a big male coyote in West Texas. She shot it with the Sako Mannlicher .308 I had loaned her at around 175 yards. It went to the tannery and will make a unique rug back in Denmark where they have virtually no predators to hunt.

She is posing with the Sako .222 which her partner used to take his gobbler, shown in the next photo.

And here are both of them with their West Texas trophies. Both of them have hunted extensively in Europe and Africa, but you can believe me when I tell you that they had a great time hunting species which are totally new to them. They really liked the Sakos I loaned them to hunt with, so another treat for them was going to see all of the Sakos just a short drive away at Bell's Home and Auto in Hamlin. They tell me that they now look at his website at www.sakosource.com just for the memories of visiting a place so cool and vintage.

True. And not without benefits -- they treated me to a driven pheasant hunt in Denmark. Another friend in Sweden had me over a few years ago to hunt Fallow Deer.

I bet that was a pretty cool experience, fun to see what subtle changes other cultures have to the same sport.
