Researchers have linked eyeworm and caecal worm infections to the significant crashes in wild quail numbers across the Rolling Plains region in recent times. Eyeworms (pictured here) are believed to hamper the birds' vision, while caecal worms can rob the birds of valuable nutrition/energy, boosting the odds of predation. https://sportsday.dallasnews.com/ot...ections-texas-wild-quail-awaits-approval

I do know about at least 5000(or much more) of those quails/year are not wild
they were raised in pen then released for hunting purpose
I raise 4 species of quails myself and penned quails are susceptible to worms if not wormed frequently

Would this medicated feed be something similar to milo with the medication in it? Maybe something you could put in a feeder?

What medication is in the quail guard? If it is something like ivermectin, one could mix his on and save many dollars.

I'm all for anything that improves the numbers, however, we need to be EXTREMELY careful messing with mother nature. What if the wild birds are forming a natural defense and we interfere setting back that evolution exponentially?

Surely worms are not a new development. How did quail survive before we found the worms?
The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.
