Share some details of what kind of rifle you’re after. High end wood stock rifle? Synthetic rifle? Etc...

Not trying to rain on your parade but you will have a tough job of finding a smith to work on a Win model 70. My son has a 300wm and he has been looking for over a year, from Calif to Texas.

Scott Wiechel at live oak accuracy will work on pretty much any action out there. Your biggest hangup is the wssm aspect as he might not have a reamer option.

Give Scott a call, I have no doubt he can do the work on M70. Like Dee said he might not have the WSSM reamer but reamers can be rented

just my .02

sell or trade your rig for a new action $400- $1450

start from scratch. your probably looking at a year and $5000

or buy a Barrett Fieldcraft, close to custom as you can get. bergara is coming out with a new ultralight rifle which, no doubt, will be a shooter.

GET GUN and GREAT SCOPE for less

Chad Dixon at LRI in Sturgis SD does some amazing work. Be forewarned, his accurizing a M70 is extensive and expensive.

You still haven’t really answered any questions...well maybe some, but vaguely. A rifle that looks cool to one person is pointless to the next. What is your idea of cool???

Money’s no object...okay. I can build you a $10,000 rifle or a $50,000+ rifle. Likewise, you could just be wanting a “custom” rifle that is a conglomeration of pre made parts a couple other thousand people have bought and taken to a good gunsmith/fitter. Every gunsmith/gunmaker is different with what they build. I have zero desire to do the same rifle built by the majority of gunsmiths. You want a custom fitted high end wood stocked rifle built to crazy standards featuring rare wood, hand engraving, and truly “custom”...I’m your huckleberry.

Whats funny is you think I’m not serious...and I really build and sale guns in that price range. Caliber means nothing.

TDK isn’t joking or trolling. Maybe you should look at some of his work. He makes works of art. Which is why Judd and him asked what exactly you’re wanting. You asked for advice and they asked for more information to help you out and you got triggered.

First of it'll never be a custom rifle...it's a Winchester no matter what a smith does he won't be able to change that. You said you already had a trigger. You wanting the action trued up, bolt fluted, firing pin springs worked, bolt timed, rebarrelled, new stock, bedded, pillared, wood/plastic, checkering, painted, clear coated over?

Hard to give you recommendations when we don't know what you're wanting done.

Just one more thing to throw out there TDK wouldn’t be selling $500 shotguns and $2000 Jon boats if he had $50,000 rifles laying around built for everyone.... just saying p

You’re right, I’m actually not even a gunsmith. I just like to ride bikes, huff diesel fumes, drink Keystone, write without punctuation, and try my hardest to not comprehend anything going on.
