Here is my thinking since it gets brutally hot here in the summer I want to put it under a oak tree. I know they need Sun, but in the winter the sun will be hitting the greenhouse as the earth shifts.

What do,you think?

The location near the birdbath is where I am wanting to place it. There will be electricity access as well.

It’ll need full sun all day. There’s a reason you never see them in a shady spot. You have power and water. Install a swamp box cooler and grow all year round. Get ready for legal pot!

Interested in this as well....not as much for location, but curious as to first experience with the structure itself. We are on a hill with high winds. Everyone that’s had a bolt together greenhouse that I know has ended up having the wind destroy it.
Do you have a structure picked out SD?

I'd put it next to the shed.

This is what I would do too. It's a pain bringing plants in for every freeze. Probably going to get a greenhouse soon.

What are you doing for the Foundation and how are you going to secure it?

Looking at trenching with concrete or possible treated wood base then drilling holes in wood then rebar hammered in to ground.

Along these lines, possibly.

Minus the cross beams.

This is correct.

If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

I have decided against full sun. Again mainly due to Texas heat. As long as I have a approved heater and the greenhouse gets at least 6 hours of sun, should be good to go.

In the picture where the shed will be going it will be protected from the heat in the summer and with the rotation of the earths axis in the winter should work.

I want to build a walipini one day for a greenhouse. Greenhouses are kind of like shops, whatever size you think you need build it double.

Mine is going in a similar spot that gets direct sun in winter and some shade from the direct overhead sun in the summer. Deciduous trees are good for that but the right placement around a live oak will work.

I managed some greenhouses at TAMU for a professor doing research for USDA. Year round operations swamp cooler in the summer was very effective. Temps, water, fertilizer, pollination that was the easy part. Wait until you get an aphid infestation in a closed system like a greenhouse. Population explodes in 48 hours.

Well, thanks for that.

We do have a pest control guy who treats house and yard every three months.

Fingers crossed.

My back and knees are killing me.

Only took 7 hours by myself. The dimensions are 6’x6’. 4x4 cedar at base with weedblock. I put granulated insect killer under weedblock and will put another layer before I put in the gravel.

That looks great. Nice backyard as well. Will be watching updates as you grow and harvest.
