I prefer a dump cake. You can google it.

have several that work pretty good ... one uses fresh fruit and one uses canned pie filling. The one using pie filling is by far the easiest and been tested on many a boy scout camp out (my brother was a scout master for years, and I got the recipe from him).
fresh fruit ... 4 cups fruit (such as berries, peaches, apples, pears, etc.) 1/2 box vanilla or yellow cake mix 1 cup lemon lime soda (like Sprite, 7 Up, etc.) 2 TBS unsalted butter, cold cut into bits 2 TBS sugar
in medium bowl combine the cake mix and lemon lime soda leaving batter pretty thick. place fruit in dutch oven and spoon batter over the top. cut butter into even size pieces and arrange on top. sprinkle sugar over top. Place lid on dutch oven and sit on bed of charcoal and put about 15-20 pieces of charcoal on top of the lid. after about 10 minutes, rotate the dutch oven over the coals clockwise and the lid over the dutch oven counter clockwise. check after 15-20 minutes, cobbler is done when topping is golden brown and the fruit juices are bubbling.
canned pie filling ... 1 can pie filling 1 box vanilla or yellow cake mix 1/2 cup butter
empty pie filling into dutch oven, spread dry cake mix on top of pie filling and spread evenly. cut butter into even size pieces and arrange on top. Place lid on dutch oven and sit on bed of charcoal and put about 10 pieces of charcoal on top of the lid. cook until done ... could be 10-45 minutes depending on how hot your fire is.

I have made this several time but not in a while. It is easy and really good. 1- Empty large can of peaches in Dutch oven.( 1- Yellow cake mix poured on top of peaches. (Do not mix. Just sprinkle cake mix on top) 1- Stick of butter or margarine. Cut into 1/4 inch slices and distribute evenly on top of cake mix. Sprinkle cinnamon on top (optional) Line the oven with foil (optional. 24 charcoals underneath Dutch oven and 12 charcoals on top of lid. Cook for 45 minutes then set off of coals and crack the lid slightly 15 minutes. Total cooking time is 1 hour.

oh yeah, you can burn the bottom pretty easily if you don't put enough charcoal on the top of the lid for even cooking from both top and bottom... been there, done that with a bunch of hungry Boy Scouts (but they ate it, ever burnt)

I think I placed 12 on the bottom and 24 on top. The chart below is probably a better reference than my memory. I hope this helps.

Not even close to looking like TPACK. Wife looked up a recipe before I could get these over to her. Came out kind of chewy, cooked a little to fast but still tasted good. Dove came out nice.
