I just wear jeans and snake chaps. Down at our place in Duval Co. you sweat naked in the shade, so shorts dont help, and if you dont wear jeans and boots the brush will wear you legs of at a nub.
As for the ticks and chiggers, we dont have chiggers, but the ticks seem to always find there way. I havent found anything to stop them yet, off dont work, we just pull them off when we get home.

Summer style fatigue pants are baggy and trap air, makeing them cooler than blue jeans. Uncle Sam made me wear them an entire summer in Death Valley at 132 degrees one day.
The rip stop fabric and the side pockets come in handy. If I'm in the brush, I wear brush chaps. Most of the stuff I do at my lease during the summer does not require brush pants.

Any army navy surpluse store should have them as HawgNutz said. The secret I used to keep my old pairs so long was to not dry them in the dryer. Hang them up and air dry them.

My father n law wears dog flea collars around his boots to keep fleas and ticks off. It works pretty well

When at my property in Uvalde Tx, I put on boots, spray with an insect repellent then put duct tape over my pants and boots. This keeps everything out but its a little hot when the temp gets over 97. It works on chiggers, ticks and anything else that might want to crawl up your leg.

They are a little expensive, but look in to the Mountain Khakis Original pants. I have a few pair and thats all I wear year-round at the lease near Hamlin/Aspermont. They don't soak up the sweat like jeans and keep the burrs and cactus off. Indestructible too and they will outlast the cheap stuff.

Seriously, toughest and coolest I have ever seen is Riggs (by Wrangler) Workwear. They have one's with cargo pockets and they are ripstop...
I buy couple pair a year for "dress casual" for school/work, then as they fade they become work. Comes in two shades of khaki and brown and green.

I would need three snakeboots to do that safely.

High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

These brush pants were very loose and roomy. The extra material on the legs made them a bit warm but not too bad. Tbar

I am glad someone mentioned the Mountain Khaki pants. I bought a pair on sale while in NM. They are great and I highly recommend them. I am planning on purchasing a second pair. They do wrinkle quite a bit but who cares if you are out on the ranch. They have a thick material but breath better than my jeans.
