Well you did get some of it right grin

One thing I've noticed with the tire thing over the years is that most are good at one thing...example, mud, snow, ice, wet, etc....we all have different ways we treat our tires too...example, rotation schedule, psi, etc. That is why the opinions vary so much. I don't know a thing about RT's except that Bobo can wreck an anvil and if he says they are decent...odds are I'll love them wink

I went through the whole tire dilemma recently and it came down to RT's and the new Goodyear for Discount...then I found a smoking deal on a set of Cooper Zeon and I've always wanted a set so I bought them to try. I've got just over a 1k miles so we'll see how they do.

Man I think Taco's and 4Runners will go about anywhere off road no matter what tire you put on them. lol Love my 97 4Runner I've gone through a lot of mud that I had no business being in in that thing.

Agree. I have a 98' 4wd that's the deer lease hoopy and goes practically anywhere......

Driving habits and style also have a lot to do with tire wear and longevity. My wife used to wear through brakes and warp rotors so I politely educated her on how to make a ride more comfortable for her, her passengers and most importantly her vehicle. Now her tires and brakes last much longer.

My current R/Ts have 55k miles on them (Same size tire as M/Ts on same truck and set up) and they still have plenty of life left in them. I've been really impressed with them other than having to spin the tires quite a bit faster to clean out.

I've put a few pros and cons between the M/T and R/T below. I know the OP didn't ask about the M/T, but figured it would be a good comparison with them side by side.

M/T Pros:
-They pull great in mud, sand, rocks, and really anything I put them through. Not once did I get stuck
-Sidewalls were about an inch thick, so I had zero punctures.
-Great sidewall lugs. Much better lugs on the sidewalls than the R/T
Cons:
-Since the sidewalls were so thick, if driving empty, I'd air down to 35 front and 30 psi in the rear to get any kind of ride quality and even tread wear. I have the tire sensors turned off in my truck so it doesn't constantly show low tire pressure, so that's something to think about.
-Pretty loud on the highway.

R/T Pros:
-Better tread life due to closer lugs
-Much quieter on the highway than the M/T
-Still pull pretty good in the mud, sand, and rocks, but not near as good as the M/T
-Thick sidewalls just like the M/T
Cons:
-I've almost gotten stuck in mud quite a bit of times. I have learned the R/T will clean out, but you have to spin the tires much faster than the M/T. I'm not a fan of this is softer mud.
-Soft sand I have to air down quite a bit to not get wheel hop. Not sure why, but I didn't have to air down in the M/T in 2wd in the soft sand on our lease, but the R/T requires airing down or putting it in 4wd.
-Sidewall lugs are very small

I plan to stick with the R/T in the future mainly due to the road noise difference. I may even go down to their A/T 2 now that I have another buggy.

I'm with ZK ^^^ after running both and have been pleased with the R/Ts 35x12x20. the tradeoff from the M/T in the mud vs the quieter road ride of the R/T sealed the deal for me. Reminds me I needs to sell 6 used 37.5x12.5x22 M/T

Or different vehicle weights, driving habitats, inflation, rotation habitats, driving surfaces etc. Some tires just don’t do well over a certain vehicle weight. Tire discussions are relevant to related vehicles first and foremost

How much better mileage out of the RT vs MT on a diesel pick up Ramball/Bobo etc? I don't mind the noise, but like to get 50k out of a tire if possible. Running BFG's currently but subscribed and listening for my next set.

I haven’t ran the Toyo MT’s so I can’t attest to those

On a F250 crewcab PSD 4x4 w/ 20” rim (4-5k per rotation)

Toyo AT XT 60-70k

GY Durartrac I think I got 55-60k but I really can’t remember I’m sure I left a report on this forum some where

Toyo RT — I’ll replace this year so probably end up 62-63k. But I will probably be pushing the limit. I feel comfortable with saying 50-60k respectively. Goldstein is on his second set of RT’s and I think he got 55k.

*On the RT’s I switched rim sizes and I’m running 35x12.5x18 45psi up front 40psi rear

I have BFGs on my wifes suburban and my F-250

hers look great at 26k and mine look like crap at 36k

I rotate mine and she drives with the change oil light on so...

Looks to me that the BFGs do fine on 1/2 tons (have gotten 65k on trucks) and not so much on the 3/4s

That being said, I have no clue what will last on a 3/4 ton...but I wont be buying BFGs for it again.

Have BFGs on my jeep and they are just fine (never gets driven)

I blame Ford on the stuck pic...they didn’t connect the vacuum line from the factory....manually locked the hubs and crawled out.

The best I got out of the Toyo MT was 42k on a dodge 3/4 ton. I would guess that 15k of that was with 10k-15k behind it. The MT's on my truck right now probably will get around 35k on a 1 ton ford with a flatbed, 70 gallon aux tank, and a lot of tools and babies.
