That is one cool picture, lots of ideas of what else to do besides what that cowboy is doing. Love watching those guys and how they work their skills.

I did. Rode calves, steers, jr bulls and then bulls. Rode in college for SHSU and then rode pro for a short time.

Thinking bout tryin it out again with the senior pro bull ridin. Gotta get back in shape to do that.

Spent lotsa time on a horse but no rodeoing. However I have a cousin who was top 5 barrel racer for many years. And now her son just won junior (15yo) world championship bull riding comp a few months ago. He’s an impressive kid. He’s also signed up to play a young George Strait in some movie that’s being made.

Back in the 70's, at least in the SA area, but probably all over the state, you didn't have to drive very far to find a weekend competitive rodeo.

Sang by a guy that wears a Krylon painted straw hat...
"I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named Fu Man Chu."

Started in high school and stayed with it for 13 years. Mostly armature. I have a few buckles and still wear a 1991 state champion buckle from a small charity 14 rodeo circuit. My body still pays for it, but I would do it all over again.
The small top picture would be circa 1980 at the International Wildlife Park in Grand Prairie. I even remember the bull's name was satan. I was living "urban cowboy" before the culture changing movie came out. Made for some fun times.
