My wife, two boys, and I make an annual trip to Houston to visit Grandma every December/January. My wife and I like to hunt but we don't have a lot of money. Usually we put in for the Texas Draw Hunts, but that isn't a for sure thing. I was wondering if there was a place we could hunt deer/exotics/hogs on our own or guided for around $1000. Would like to at least kill a couple does for meat and possibly some goats or a buck. Pigs are a given since they are everywhere that I have been. Any ideas? Much appreciated. Oh and we are willing to drive up to three hours and camp near the area. Most recently hunted Colorado Bend SP. Cool spot, lots of game, just got bad weather for late season and the moon kept them up eating at 3 am....

welcome

Post this in the outfitters/guide thread. There are MLD ranches that need does and cull bucks killed. Should be able to fit in your budget. Good luck. up

For that budget of $1K you should be able to find a place where you can take a couple does and a cull. Or, you could find a place that would let you sub in some exotics does as well.

Lots of options, post up in the Outfitters and you'll likely have some takers.
