Thanks for your message. Do you mean boned out, processed meat or just pure dressed weight?

I'd say 60 lbs or so but Axis is some of the best meat you will find.

I'd say 60 lbs or so but Axis is some of the best meat you will find. Dustin, if each spike should yield approximately 60lbs, no, lets say 40 to 60 lbs, can you explain why I just received my meat from the hunt I booked through you and it was a total weight of 51 pounds from both axis spike? This has been a horrible experience from the time I pulled into the parking lot at the processor to check in until now. The two 450.00 axis spikes have cost me almost 1600.00. The 30 dollar fee that you quoted me ended up being 100 dollars from Daniel. And the cabin, well lets just say I wouldn't ask anyone to stay in that crap hole. The assurance that they would take care of my special needs due to my disabilities was not honored. It was the worst hunting trip I have ever been on and the most unprofessional I had ever seen. When you do the math, the 51 pounds of meat from two spikes cost me $31.37 per pound. Please understand, I am not asking for anything from you or DBHunting. I just want you to know what your name is being used for. I was told you were only advertising for them so I don't hold you responsible for the complete disaster of a hunt. But, you have to admit, 51 pounds of meat from two axis spike is ridiculous. And just to be clear, this was 51 pounds of meat yielded from two deer, not each deer. One last thing, I am asking that you and DBHunting not contact me again via phone or any other manner. I have washed my hands of that so called outfitter.

well, as long as we are going here. I had a crappy experience here this year. Yes, we got an animal but it was a joke from start to finish VERY unprofessional.
Dustin, I know you are just a broker, but I would run.
Hate to put this out in public but people need to know before they pay hard earned money for this "experience".

Guys, I misspoke on this thread about the Axis spike processed weight. I mistakenly looked at the question wrong and responded with a far greater weight than an Axis spike actually yields in processed weight. I am sorry about this.

Dustin, i have spoken with several other outfitters and everyone of them agree that the processed weight shouldbe between 40 and 60 lbs. Again, i only recieved 51lbs from TWO spikes. The entire hunt was a flop.

You are right. You would have had more meat from your hunt. I misread what you posted and for that, again, i apologize for what I quoted. I had quoted a field dressed carcass.
You are talking about how much of a flop this hunt was but the other folks don't see the full story. I believe you shot through both hindquarters on one Axis Spike and one hindquarter on the other. Since DBWGPT, like most processors, doesn't process bloodshot meat, you got back less meat as a result. See what other processors and outfitters would say to that circumstance. We don't keep any deer meat and you get your deer back from the processor. I assure you no slight of hand was going on here.

You dont know the whole story bud. I only wish you would have been there. I did not shoot through one and into another. As a matter of fact, when Daniel shot the one head on, there was an entry on the left front shoulder which exited near the rib cage, re-entered in the hind quarter and again exited through the rear end. There were no other entry wounds. I never saw the second one because I never hit it. I am very aware of my surroundings when I shoot. This is what the Army taught me. Your guide, Daniel was wondering around in the woods with the order for me to shoot when one runs out. Now why would I shoot in the same general direction of where he might be and I cannot see him. Now, lets just play this out like you are proposing it happened. Your telling me that I shot through one and through a second one in the same shot and did so much damage that over 50% of the meat from each was ruined? BS. I told Daniel several times that I did not hit two and he insisted that he heard the shot hit two deer. BS There are too many inconsistencies in Daniels story and by the way, I have a photo of the deer that was shot and there is no damage to the hind quarter that would be consistent with Daniels lies. Either way, I hope this will keep others from paying their hard earned money to get swindled by this outfitter. If you choose to continue to represent them then that is your conscience that you have to live with. Mine is clear.

I think after reading all of this thread that any folks wanting to hunt should do your homework and see how many have good or bad experiences with this outfitter before any hunts are booked.

On checking references ask for successful hunters and those that were not successful. A good outfitter will provide that
lf the saying "Liar, Liar your pants on fire" were true Mainstream news might be fun to watch
