Without being too wordy, what and how was the biggest buck taken this season by those within your hunting circle?
The biggest buck taken by those I know was a very nice ten-point that taken by a nearby landowner while he was squirrel hunting a year-round feeder that's owned by friends of his. He took along a rifle in addition to a .22 because he thought he might see a hog. The size of the buck was just too much to overcome. Not sure how the feeder's owner took it but I know I didn't see him heading that way as much as in seasons past.
Yes, hunting success is often just a matter of pure luck, along with the help of someone running a feeder all year.

Biggest on our place was an 11 so far will score about 140, but I haven't gotten around to scoring him yet.
Some of my buddies shot some bigger bucks in mexico and HF place out west but I don't have much details on them other than a cell phone photo. Bigger than the one off our place though.

I killed a big 10pt at our land in Erath. Got a couple of crappy pics at night. Biggest buck ever killed on our place. He's at 'Double nickel' taxidermy in New Braunfels.

I hunt public pretty danged hard. Put countless hours in the stand with my bow. Took my buddy to a good location via boat on opening day of rifle he tells me "I'm shooting the 1st deer that comes out" 2 hours in the stand.

Our friends and ranch neighbors took a 168 inch typical and another friend took a free range nearly 200 inch deer in Bee County. To date, we have not taken any trophies. We've probably seen a half dozen in the 140-155 range, but they're just not quite what we're looking for yet. In fact, we've only taken a single cull and a couple doe on 2000 acres. Lots of good 4.5 and 5.5 year old deer. With a little timely rain, 2019 could be one for the books.
We do have 2-3 giant 6.5 year old 8's that need to go. We'll see.

Ducknbass, your friend shot a dandy. Great job, especially on public land. Outstanding.
He called me "hey man I shot a buck" "Biggin?" He's okay idk Sends me terrible pick of deer. I pull up about 75 yards from buck in my prodrive after jumping a couple Beaver dams. Walk over and say dang I'm glad we got my boat over here that's the biggest body buck I've ever drug out of the woods. He said he did not realize it was big until he got it home and put his mounted buck he shot in childress inside of this bucks spread
He said there was a bigger racked smaller body buck on the same doe but he couldn't get a shot on it.

Great public land buck! Where abouts he take this deer?
Me and the wife each took good deer this year on opening day. Mine was a 20" wide 8 pt and hers was a tall main frame 8 with 2 big kickers. Both scored right around 140. Her uncle knocked down a very old 16 pt. It was a main frame 10 and I have not heard what he scored. BIL took a 125" 10 pt also. Either way it was a decent year for us

150 inch and 3/8 on our place in East Texas. Good friend of mine shot it. Another one about the same size on the place behind us.
Maybe next year will be my time. Still beats driving from Houston across the boarder into Mexico like I used to do. East Tex good enough for this simple guy like me. No big deer for me but still lots of fun and hunting with really good guys.
Thanks, Billy

nubbin buck....son shot it at 265 yds....thought it was a doe. We only shoot does since the land around us is small plots and they shot the heck out of young bucks. Son got a lecture on knowing what the heck he is shooting.

My group hunts a mixture of public and private lands in different areas. I killed my first buck that was TRULY over 20" inside spread, but the largest was killed in our group was 174 2/8". That's way above average-don't think that we have ways of putting deer on the ground like that regularly.
