Are you talking about the class? You still have to submit finger prints, have a background check and qualify.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

A quick check tells me it's just the class, you'll still have to find a local instructor to qualify.

I personally would take the course that sanctioned by the state of Texas and by a Texas licensed instructor. Then you have no worries and you can carry concealed or open.

Talk to jeffbird. Wife and I took his class. The best part was that she actually enjoyed the process and shooting. I never thought that could happen.

Take it online through Bruce Cole, he is on the list of certified instructors. I think he is in McKinney.

Talk to jeffbird. Wife and I took his class. The best part was that she actually enjoyed the process and shooting. I never thought that could happen. Thank you 603. I enjoy what I do and strive to make it enjoyable and welcoming, as well as informative, especially for women and new shooters. You and your wife were joys and I enjoyed the time together. OP, the license to carry in Texas requires 4 - 6 hours of classroom time with a test followed by a range session including a shooting proficiency test. The state sets a mandatory curriculum for the classroom portion. The classroom portion can be done online now, followed by a 1.5 hour range session with a LTC instructor and a shooting qualification. My view is that the goal of the classroom portion is to actually learn something, especially the relevant law, not just check a box as is more of what happens with the online courses. Understanding the law, which is 2 hours of the 4 - 6 hours of classroom time is absolutely critical. The online course does not provide the same potential for student - teacher interaction to ask questions and explore likely real life scenarios that might be unique to each person. Many instructors are refusing to do the range only segment, or others charge their regular full fee. So, check around and make sure you have an instructor lined up for the range portion and shooting qualification if you decide to do the classroom portion online. Here is some helpful info from TxDPS, which is the agency responsible for administering licenses to carry: https://www.dps.texas.gov/RSD/LTC/faqs/index.htm
