Considering this is the first fork horned buck I've seen on our homeplace in over forty years of ownership, I was pretty excited to get to photograph him this morning. While walking the 130+ lb dog(on a leash), holding a travel mug of coffee in the other hand, I saw some movement about 200 yards down the hill. Dog saw it too, but she's silent until we get up close to anything. We're beginning to see both deer and hogs now on our place, which makes me pretty happy. We worked our way to within about 120 yards from the deer. He was chasing does around and none of them saw us, which worked out great for a "photo shoot". Game cam images show the namesake stripes.



After watching him chase does for a few minutes, we moved out into the open to get a better shot as they were heading into the woods. Naturally(as expected), he saw us, but posed for one final pic.

Stripes are easier to see in this pic. Maybe he'll hang around for a few seasons - it would be interesting to see if the pattern changes or disappears with a new coat.

That’s a cool looking deer.

Very interesting, wonder what causes the stripes. I recently noticed one of the bucks we have had on camera all summer/season long has stripes somewhat similar to those. I took some pictures of him last weekend, ill have to get the card and post some photos also.

Finally got my memory card out of my camera. We have nick named this one Tony, like the tiger.

Somebody ought to breed deer to have tiger stripes like Tony.
