You'should be fine with the 30-06 and moa. If anything, spend some money on finding a bonded bullet or mono that shoots well in your rifle. If you just want another rifle, then nobody here will discourage that

Sometimes you can get a used one for that or a little less. they have gone up since I bought mine 6+ years ago.

I actually got my cooper from cabelas fine gun section in Fort Worth. Didn’t pay much more than 1500, but was a little more than that. Of course spent quite a bit on the optics for it as well. It is a great rig. I love shooting it and it has killed everything I have shot at except a couple coyotes that I winged from long ways away.

This was several years ago and see they retail a bit higher than what I paid, but I am certain I got mine for under retail even though it was NIB. Cabelas just wanted to sell it and I was lucky to get it for the price I paid (I think so at least).

If it were me I would keep the 06 and possibly change out the glass. Spend that money on quality binos, spotter, or other gear you might need. Another item that gets expensive is a good quality pack. As others have stated try some different bullets in that 06 either handloads or better factory loads. Spend time finding what that gun likes and put your money towards gear.

Yeah, I am pretty certain that’s the route I am gonna go. Get some better glass for the rifle, look at Hornady eld-x rounds, and if not those then maybe have chad work up some rounds for it. Possibly a restock and trigger job too. We’ll see. It gets fun playing with toys, figuring out what to do with them.
