My yearly hunt in Encino ( waaay South Tx) got canceled,( also canceled last year), there are some birds there, but basically not enough to hunt. They have 10,000 acres leased, sigh. 2 yrs ago it was good for 20--25 covies a day.

Hunted there 2 weekends ago Fri to Sunday.. Couldnt have asked for worse conditions..High winds one day... No wind one day..and perfect wind another day and no humidity.. We did avg 14 covey days not including what we bumped with the truck which was 4 to 5 covey a day... Poor dogs didnt stand a chance all weekend.. Birds are there but the cover is thick!!! Last year we had a great hunt same pasture... 8000 acres...

So there’s not been a hard freeze down there yet to knock down the heavy cover?
