What’s a good layout blind? I need something that somewhat easy to backpack with and durable as I’ll be walking through mesquites, cactus, and yuccas.
Kind of like the ones with the sling chairs in them vs just the pads. Thinking this will be the best way to get me close to the cranes I want to kill as they come off roost.
$250 or less would be great.

Avery Power Hunter, wear as backpack, light, I think just over 10lbs, and low profile, which is key. Set-up is a snap, one bar snaps into place and you are done.

I am on my second season using the delta waterfowl zero gravity layout blind. It has a “chair” that keeps you off the cold ground. I love it. When grassed in you can hardly tell it there. Very comfy. I got the brown one it’s cheaper. It folds and has backpack type straps.
The main draw back it’s kinda big. And it takes a while to grass in. Usually I leave most the grass or brush and add to it and fluff it out a bit.

Rogers low profile layout boind. No frame to break, light, and has backpack straps. Also comes in XL. Bought mine in an after Christmas sale last year for $100, maybe $120 ea. Good value and quality.

I hunted in a Rogers yesterday. Good quality, but my hips only made it about 2 hours before I had to get out and stretch. Also didn’t have room to move around due to the bad across my legs. For my intended use, I prob won’t be in it more than 2 hours at a time, but things change and I want it to be comfortable.

Macks sells one that is basically just a backrest, pad and blanket with stubble straps. Highly recommend it. Super light, low profile (backrest is adjustable), and has backpack straps.

We swapped one morning, I couldn’t stand it either. It made it halfway through his first season with it, and became his backup. OP, between the three that I have, I find myself using my Avery finisher the most. It’s not as durable as the hardcore, but it’s a lot lighter and easier to setup. Also have a gander mt layout chair that’s by far the lightest, can’t be but 5 lbs but it comes at a price of comfort. I’ve put the finisher through mesquites and cactus out west and it’s held up good.

Yeah finisher is more cozy, but if you are looking for light weight, carry as back pack, easy of setup, low profile...the power hunted beats finisher in all those aspects.

I have a FA eliminator express. It’s like 7 years old and going strong. Folds up and fits in the bottom of a decoy back and it’s pretty comfy

Can't have comfort with the requirements you stated. Pick one or the other.

Comfort but most of all that ridiculous top. And then there’s the price tag. It’s pricey for what it is. He picked his up used for $75, no way I’d pay full price. Point is, Barney is correct and I’m not a fan of the powerhunter. YMMV

Well that is your opinion, you probably don't understand its advantages and how to operate the dome top. I also have the avery ground force, like the finisher, it has the blind doors as opposed to the dome top. Yeah you can't poke your head out the top of the power hunter, but I can come out and shoulder my gun much faster with the dome top vs blind doors. You can hold the gun just about anyway you want as opposed to a coffin layout blind limits you there. Pic below is my buddy who also as a power hunter. You hold the dome with your left hand, gun in right hand, you can crack the dome as he is doing, great viability to see birds coming, and when birds are working overhead, you can move your head all around watching the birds work and you want get busted, Pop the top open real easy and shoulder gun. Her has gun laying sideways over his lap, I like holding gun on my side, I can flip top and get my gun up at same time.

I’ve been hunting exclusively out of layouts for the last 4 years. Where I hunt there’s not a tree or shrub higher than your knee for a mile, and even that is sparse. Flooded wheat, coastal fields and tanks in and around the area. I have experience with many brands of blinds and the two I did not like the most were the powerhunter and a bass pro layout. Is the powerhunter light and low profile, sure is. Are there others out there with the same advantages and a better design, sure is. I’m glad you like the powerhunter, if it works for you then keep on keeping on. I’m just merely stating my opinion and experience. Then again, I guess I don’t have an understanding of how to properly use the top of a layout blind. Carry on.

Well don't get your panties in a wad there 68. You said you and your buddy hate the PH blind, you didn't say why. That opinion is not very helpful. When I ask why, you say the top is ridiculousness, again you don't say why, it is just ridiculous, you still haven't explained that one, I'm left to assume you just don't know how to use it.

Didn’t realize I had to give you a detailed report on why I don’t like a product that you do. Oh wait, I don’t. Don’t get butthurt because I don’t agree with you. I’m sure we wouldn’t agree on a lot of things. I’ve used a powerhunter and I don’t like it. Take it for what it is. Don’t let my opinion bother you that much. Oh yeah, let me throw in the obligatory

I have the Avery GHG Ground force, but if I get another one, I'd get the Hard Core Run-N-Gunner.
Easy set up, you can put the deeks and blind bag in it and backpack everything in.
I know two folks that have them and they've been pretty pleased with them.

Oh yeah, let me throw in the obligatory Do you suppose information supporting your opinion would be helpful feedback? My solution isn’t apparently for most. If I hunt layout, I layout in my plastic sled that I drag my gear out in. The front makes a good backrest, it keeps you separated from mud and slop, and it’s easy to brush in. You guys probably wouldn’t find it “comfortable” based on the other reviews. I don’t have the ability to drag in a blind that is bigger and more comfortable, it just isn’t practical for walk in hunting.
