This. You can get into some pheasants as well as waterfowl up in Kansas. I've done two road trips up there, hunted both waterfowl and pheasants everyday. Had a blast both times.

Are you planning on taking a boat?

Currently doing the same thing except I live in Kansas and decided to hunt my way home. Kansas and Missouri both have a ton of mallards currently, the problem in Kansas is the mallards that are there have been there since before Thanksgiving, are educated, and on very specific patterns. From western Kansas to southeast Kansas it seems to be the same story, for hunting ducks over water, they are going to the fields right at legal in afternoons and going to refuge at first light. After scouting and scouting and hunting a little with limited success we found huntable numbers of mallards, pintail, and widgeon in north Texas that have been playing nice the past three days. This mild cold front may have them moving a bit more but I don稚 expect a major push of fresh ducks until Nebraska and northern Kansas get cold, stay cold, and have a snowfall that covers up the feeds.
