Just joined and can’t wait to finally get into hunting. I grew up fishing but it took almost 40yrs to get my first rifle. Went with a Bergara ridge in 6.5cm with a vortex tactical ffp scope. Hoping to maybe get a late season hunt in, or just hone my skills until next year. Sighted in the rifle today, final 9 shot group at 100 yards was 1-5/8”. Hope the images show up. Cheers!

I'm pretty new here myself. I wound up here while tracking a scammer from Alberta Canada which is where I am.

Although I'm new to this site I am not new to the internet or to hunting.
I'm 64 years young and I've been hunting since shortly after I learned to walk. I have also been a big game guide and a trapper.
Four years as a guide, 50+ as a trapper.

I was a moderator on an Alberta hunting forum and now just a frequent flyer on that site and advertiser in the magazine that set up the forum.
I'm a retired equipment operator and truck driver. Now I'm a home based manufacturer of a trail camera mount.

I have to say, that is a very nice rifle you have,
Much nicer then anything I can afford.
My rifles are a collection of hand me downs, farm auction finds and army surplus.

I also will never be able to shoot the way you can, judging by that target. But I don't have to be a sniper here. Where I live long shots are seldom called for.
This is "The Great Boreal Forest" or so I'm told. It's Moose and Bear country. Lots of black spruce forest and swamp land that is mostly crown/public land.

I think you are off to a great start, now the fun begins. Finding where there is game, learning it's habits, learning how to get within range, getting permission or finding public land open to hunting and finally how to process game once it's down.

It's a fun journey and good for the soul. I wish you many years of good hunting and good friends.
