When I read about this hunt.....I thought 160” would be a good goal.

No matter how little hunting an area has there are just not going to be 170+ around every corner.

Drought has been tough on the deer up here this year. Lots of 140-150s. You can’t throw a rock without hitting an 140 8 pt, but just not seeing big big deer. They are here but like looking for a needle in a haystack. We are putting in the time and other than lunch we are hunting non stop. Covering 10k acres each half day. Glassing, driving, glassing, rattling. Repeat. Fun way to hunt.

This afternoon I’m on a 100 acre food plot along the Wichita River. Have about 200 deer in front. Mostly 2-3 year olds. I’m being taunted by a post mature old 145ish clean ten.

Day 2 over. Passed on the old 10 that reminded me of a smaller version of the deer I lost a few years back in Denton Cnty. One more day to get it done.

Snake did connect on a hog at 1050 yards this evening with the 280 Ackley pushing a Berger 168 VLD. He’s a dead-eye!

Here’s another pic of his deer. Haven’t put a tape to it yet

We need a morning report. Are you comfortable going home empty handed, or do you switch to management mode?
