I am going to be putting my Gen 1 ATN x-sight up for sale soon, I know I won't get much for it, but not giving it away either I am wanting suggestions on a better NV scope I can't afford thermal, nor do I hunt enough to justify spending 5k on a scope
It will be going on a .308, and I will be hunting 100 - 150 yards max
Not overly concerned if it records, but would be a plus I just want something that has better and clearer view I have a great IR, so don't care about what factory IR a scope comes with I don't want to break the bank, basically I would like to keep it under 1k, prefer a bit lower

Go with a Photon. I've got a 4.6XT, works fine at ranges you are talking. Think the new RT is supposed to be a little better.
Shoot. Eat. Repeat.

You can get a Pulsar thermal for $2,500. Not $5K btw. Still more than $1K.

A friend of mine brought one of these by Friday night. He does a bit of investigative / surveillance work. He loves it and said it was money very well spent. I was definitely impressed with it.

Under $1,000 there are currently only two options, the Sightmark Photon RT and the ATN X-Sight 4k. I've used both extensively in the field and I would highly suggest the Photon RT and I have a feeling you'll be hard pressed to find many (any?) folks on THF who will suggest the ATN. They aren't known for good customer service. The Photon RT is a great optic and for the money I don't think you can beat it. I've got a very long but very detailed full review of the Photon RT. I have reviews of the older model Photon XT as well but they've all been discontinued for a year now. https://youtu.be/BogBslYtF3k- Jason

I suggest you get a good day scope for your 308 and use Digital Crosshairs 1000 night vision clip-on. No night vision scope will give you the performance of glass optics during the day. You can learn more about our clip-on option at http://bit.ly/why-use-DC1000
