I知 sure by the time next year these will begin to trickle into US Consumer hands

It will never compete directly with thermal tech BUT digital does have a place at the table for night hunting AND imagine 1200 res imagery whereas thermal will be stuck at 640 red for some time

Preorder pricing in Europe right now is about 1700 US Dollars

Sensor is 1280x720p - roughly equivalent to 720p HD quality

Screen is 1024x768p

Base mag is 4x with digital zoom to 12x

THE BIG QUESTION REMAINS, will the onboard video recorder capture video in high res (current tech limits recordings to about 640 pixels)

This foreign promo vid looks promising!!!!

Very interesting for sure!

I think the big question is, what is the US price point going to be. With entry level digital optics like the Sightmark Photon improving in quality, features etc and the price point being in the $500-$600 range and at the same time quality entry level thermal being in the $1,900-$2,200 range, there just isn't a big demand in the US for high end digital NV. The Pulsar Ultra N355 that was announced and discontinued in the span of about 7-8 months this year is a great example. Back when the Pulsar Digisight N750 and N550 ruled the roost (before the Photons), $1,200-$1,800 digital NV was a great choice and the most affordable quality NV on the market. But now, things have changed and this $1,000-$1,3000 high quality NV has gotten squeezed by cheap prices/improving quality on the entry level digital NV and dropping prices and good quality thermal above it

And last but definitely not least is these Pulsar digitals are all designed for the European market where they only want 940nm IR illuminators. No one in the US wants them and so even with a scope like the Ultra N355, it has a 940nm illuminator. That means to really get the detection range that most US customers are demanding you need to drop another $150-$250 get a really good add-on, high quality 850nm IR illuminator.

So in summary, I'm excited to see what this unit will do, but my prediction is, to really sell well it's going to have to be sub-$900 and it needs a super bright 850nm IR illuminator. The problem is, I'm not sure they can make it, market it and warranty for that retail price. Time will tell, I can't wait to see how it plays out. No doubt it will be super popular across the pond.

It is a shame that Pulsar has pulled an ATN and has apparently faked at least some of the video. When they show the Picture in Picture on the bear, the larger picture has a small amount of wobble in it. The zoomed in PiP should show that wobble as much more pronounced due to the magnification. Instead, it is shake-free, the opposite of what you would expect. Looking closely at the video, the PiP is actually just a resized version of a previous clip and does not appear to be of the same location between the PiP and main image.

I agree with you on the price point. Pulsar's Digisight line has always been a little pricey and that needs to come down to be competitive. It will have a lot of trouble competing with ATN if it comes out at over $1000.

As for the illuminators, that seems variable, but yeah, most of the market is going to want the 850 nm line, but you don't need to spend 150-200 bucks to get one that will work well. You can spend a lot less and do fine.

These goobers are trying to sell them for $3900 and do say it has onboard recording.

Scott Country has them listed at 1500 pounds, so you know it isn't going to be under $1000 US.

No question the PiP video is fake but that's not the first time. I've seen some fake video and still images in some of their overseas Trail marketing videos as well. Heck even their dealer catalog has had some faked images. Pretty silly but honestly I think it's as more of a laziness issue from someone in marketing rather than an intent to deceive.

Digital NV over $1,000 was a great deal and good seller when that was the cheapest thing on the market besides some old Gen 1 stuff. Gen 2/3 was $2,500+ and thermal started around $4,000-$5,000. But with thermal starting at less than $2,000 and Photons improving and being in the $550-$650 range....it's hard to justify big bucks on these high end digital units. Guess we will see what the pricing is in January but I'm guessing $999-$1,299.
