Those are American White Pelicans - freshwater and typically will be seen in the Great Plains but have been seen in Texas quite a bit.

They were HUGE birds especially for how small the pond is. Was also a dozen hooded mersengers on there as well.

Had a group of 20+ in Bandera County about 3 weeks ago in our pond created by all the rain water and flooding.

Cool birds, a bunch of them winter on Lake Ray Hubbard every year. Like some have said big birds

Most of them I see in north Texas are real lazy. They sit over the loons and wait for them to come up with a fish and steal it from them.

Have seen them on Lakes Lewisville and Texoma every winter I've fished them.

I imagine they taste about like great blue heron, or maybe bald eagle.
I meant fished the lakes, not the pelicans.
