Depends on the head and the condition. Fixed (permanent) blade, replaceable blade fixed, mechanical . . . As long as it functions and I can get it damn sharp I'll reuse it.

I sharpen and reuse heads often, but I usually shoot G5 Montecs with the compound and crossbow and Magnus Stingers in the trad bows.

I normally shoot them until I loose them. I shoot non-replaceable fixed and mechanicals.
Once you learn to use a strop you would be suprised how much sharper you can get a mechanical or even how well you can re-sharpen a mechanical.

It all depends. With slick tricks, as long as everything is straight I just resharpen and put it back in the quiver. The same goes for schwackers except adding a new piece of shrink wrap to hold the blades. NAP spitfires though are a one time use broadhead for me. I have bought the blade replacement kit and rebuilt them and they are just never the same, the blades become loose enough that it wouldn’t surprise me it they open up in flight. Also I don’t trust that the aluminum body won’t bend or warp once it hits something hard i.e. ribs, rocks, stumps

Shot my first rage two blade through a deer this past weekend and there's no bringing that broadhead back to life.
One blade bent severely and the tip now has a blunt end, but I do believe the massive blood trail is worth it's one time use.

I definitely reuse G5 Montecs. Just resharpen. I have so far just replaced the blades on the Rage I am considering trying the resharpen option if the blades look good after a shot. I keep all of the old blades so I've got a bag of them.

Shoot till they fall apart...or become damaged to where they can not be made razor sharp.

I shot a 160lb boar last night with a Rage Shock Collar. Went through ribs on both sides. Was fine and had it laying on the ground by him when my buddy drove the Rhino over it. I'll replace the broken blades and kill another one.

I’m 86 years old. Have killed about 135 wihitetails with a bow. About 95% of them with a Bear Razorhead The best broad ever made Practice sharpen and re use I have some that have 10 kills. Don’t know why they don’t make them any more

I tried mechanical broadheads one season for whitetail and javelina and while they definitely did the job I was wasn’t impressed enough (bent blades and bodies) to give up fixed blade heads. Since I have exclusively use fixed blades for the past twenty five years I have always shot and sharpened them until I lose them. I hunt with the Zwickeys with my recurve and the Maasais with my compound and have been using these very broadheads for the past five or six years. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2018/11/full-11672-169035-image.jpg)

Had the same set of Muzzy fixed 3 blades for 20 years. Buy a new set of blades and use them again. Only ones I lose are the ones that end up in a big pig that runs off.
It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

For the guys who think their broadheads will last forever you need to come hunt the rocky ground of central Texas. I sent a Maasai through a doe two years ago with a recurve and the rocks on the ground on the other side took two chunks from one side of the blade and one on the other. It will still hunt, but they don't always survive the trip. I had one of the vaunted Woodsman Elite heads roll over a tip on a spine shot and another bend a ferrell on a shot through a shoulder blade on a pig. That in itself wouldn't bother me if the heads weren't $35 and $20 each. That price just eats me up when I'm shooting 20+ pigs a year.

If I am after pigs only on a hunt I will use cheapest muzzy heads I can find. But I do have a Montec that has been through 4 hogs and a rattler. It has small chips in it but will still use it on hogs. Most of the time though if hunting hogs a firearm of some sortis in use, bullets are cheaper than arrows

I just clean and reuse. I use mechanical for crossbow and Montec G5’s for compound.

I use G5 Montec Crossbow broadheads with my crossbow and resharpen them, 2-Blade Delta broadheads with my recurves and resharpen them and Spitfire mechanical broadheads with my Mathews LX compound bow that I replace the blades on. I keep all my hunting broadheads sharp and keep my target broadheads dull. The Delta broadheads only cost $17.99 for 3 and hold up pretty well. I don’t feel as bad if one gets destroyed and they also come out of trees pretty easy lol. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2018/11/full-42113-169438-123d2e65_664c_47e6_a55d_0b4bbd53ff32.jpeg)
