Got my "public hunting book" a couple weeks back and noticed that an approved access point is no longer on there. I know the book says all hunters must enter an approved access point. But has anyone been hassled by a warden about this if they are hunting public 100% legal.... besides the access point issue? The issue is, it adds significant mileage to get to a spot I like if I cant access from a previously listed access point. And also, some places that are obvious corps access points are not listed either. Any help or suggestions to ease my nerves would be appreciated. I always intend and try my hardest to follow all laws of hunting.

I don't know the official answer to this, but I've not had a problem when 1) it's a reasonable/legal place to park and 2) the road or lot is directly connected to corps land.

I think the only issue would be if you had to cross private land to get to the corps land.

Call your local game warden and ask.

I think the only issue would be if you had to cross private land to get to the corps land. This. With that said - some WMAs require on-site registration - and you'll have to enter there.

Yes the warden was called on some people hunting next to me because they kept jumping a fence. It turned a .1 mile walk into a mile walk.

Have to access through the actual public access spots only. That's why they are there so as not to cross private land or have people coming in from all over...

Best bet is to just call the Game Warden and ask them.
Like an earlier post. The sites that require on-site registration they will typically state you have to enter at the official access point. This ensures you filled out the paperwork before entry. And if the other ways to access require you to cut across private property.

Glad to say I've never crossed private property to access a spot. Thanks for the input yall, I'll call the warden and give em a shot. Def not worth a ticket or angering anyone.

I always intend and try my hardest to follow all laws of hunting. You’re not hunting “100% legal“ if your illegally entering the WMA. Illegal entry is a citeable offense and can lead to all actions taken afterwards being illegal as well.

OP, has already decided to call local game warden and get clarification.

Either way OP, GWs are good points of contacts but you should contact the bio for the property in question.
