Burned up my 14yr old cheapo Ryobi table saw today. Sparks flew and smoke came out, it died in a grand way.  What's a good saw in the $500-$1k range? Need one on a solid stand or cabinet

My suggestion would be look for an older Craftsman 10" saw with a cast iron bed. Make sure it is a belt drive, not a shaft drive. They use universal motors, so if you fry the motor, you can pick up a new motor any where. Mine, one is a 1974 10" Craftsman, the other a1932, it is a 71/2" Craftsman. Only the 1932 is on it's second motor.

I have a Rigid with a cast top that’s on a metal base. I’ve had it for over 20 years and it’s served me well

I had the same question on a couple Wood working sites a year or so ago, ended up getting the Dewalt 10" DWE7491RS table saw, it was the the most recommended.on almost every site and comparison chart and around $475ish
Easy to use and the rail came set perfect, love the rail dial and lock as well, not a pro, but it is a great saw imo

I have one of the Dewalt's as well that's at least 10yrs old, works great.

I had that saw for a few years. It’s a good one. Best of the bunch are the Ridgid and the Bosch.

That's going to be my Christmas gift from Mom and Dad this year. Been needing one for a while. Lots of projects around the land, from trimming out the cabin and bunkhouse to deer blinds.

Dewalt is the brand I use.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect. Some people live an entire lifetime & wonder if they ever made a difference in the world, a veteran doesn't have that problem. Reagan

In that price range hands down you want the Ridgid 4512. It has a lot of the features of the higher end saws and I believe they go for about $529 right now. And it's belt driven which means it quieter and more powerful than the direct drive saws.

I think you already bought that Ridgid like the one I had for 5 or 6 years. Absolutely no problems with the saw, but I upgraded eventually to the Ridgid TS3650, which is no longer offered, but might be available used. It ‘s considerably better than the table saw Ridgid offers today.

find a delta cast iron table or craftsman cast iron table, either should be less than a grand easy.
both are top notch and commercial quality, I have used the deltas on commercial work and cabinets till I should have fried the motor and it still ran strong, craftsman is barely a second, almost equal.
