It’s cold, it’s blowing, it’s the rut. Might be fun, might be a bust, but sure beats sitting on the couch. Archery season so I will be sitting in a tree in the elements, but I think I have the gear to make it not so unbearable.
Will try to keep updated but don’t know how long my Phone battery will last.

Got to stand and there was a younger 8 pt waiting for me there. He didn’t blow just kind of trotted off nonchalantly, so that’s good. Gonna give a rattle in a bit see if the old bruiser my son called up Saturday is listening

Get 'em tiger. It's cold as a witches broom. Don't freeze and good luck.

So far a spike buck came and went and a doe and twin fawns came in.
Think I saw a coyote walking thru the woods and a small buck way off in the distance making quick work of that field trotting along.
I am a little worried my scent may not be completely covered but so far no blowing just slightly spooky deer. Might be the wind making them jittery.

Then two more line fawns rolled thru. Both got spooked by something to my right. Thought I heard what would have been a buck working a scrape but so far no sign. Weird to see two lone fawns like that, usually they are still with mama but they might be button fawns??
So far hear is keeping me pretty warm. Blustery wind and light snow. Need to limit my gloveless time

Sorry about the lack of Updates, I saw enough to think my Scent cone was going to be a concern. So I got down out of the tree stand and hunkered up against some brush And trees that were in good wind conditions. I did that at 4:50. Sunset was at 5:30. Never made such dramatic moves before so close to the magic time. But it paid off, not in getting my target buck, but had plenty of sightings and lots of action that I worry might not have happened if my scent was an issue.
Anyway, saw a bunch, some young bucks chasing, some doe and fawns hungry, and a busted up 3.5 yo 8 pt I had dead to rights at 25 yds but not interested in losing another 3.5 yo buck. That’s another story. Seems the doe are Mostly Not receptive still or already past that, and the bucks are thin from running. Might see some tending action but have yet to see a doe being trailed yet, just bucks running after the doe when they see them.
