Looking at pics after opening weekend and I now see why I don't have many deer around. Pigs. They"ve been coming every day (sometimes twice) for weeks. I did shoot a couple Saturday night so I'm hoping they moved on. We'll see Saturday morning.....I might take this opportunity to do some still hunting with Dad's Mini 30.

Put a pen around your feeders, problem solved.

x2

We went from shooting hogs back to back to back on consecutive hunts to shooting maybe 2 all season by putting up a pen. It made a big improvement for us. * hog panels in a circle, 1 t-post at each seam has been enough for us going on 3 or 4 years.

I had a large group of pigs I could hear most of my hunt last week. They finally moved and sounded like they were right in the brush 100 yards away. I only saw one and it walked right by the pen never stopping. A buck showed up less than a minute later to jump the pen. They have made a big difference for us so some are penned and some are not.

I've got 4 doe and 2 fork spikes that come around but this sounder has been around for over a month. I shot 2 pigs last weekend. I was hoping to get out for a hunt this weekend but the wife has an ear infection so I had to cancel at the last moment. Next time I go out I'm gonna fill the feeders and start throwing a bunch of corn and hope for the best. I may have to change up this year and do some stalking and still hunting. each of my feeders are 8 panels bowed out in the center to create a circle-ish. Had good results last year with pen size.

That pen doesn't look like 8 panels? It looks like the feeder throws corn outside the pen probably what keeps the hogs coming in.

Pen is too small. I am only see 4 16 ft panels. Need to be 8 or more. 7 is fine too. Ours are 6, 7. 10, and 11. 6 is too small as well.

We typically have sounders throughout the summer and early fall. Once rifle season starts we only see the rogue boar every now and them and they get gut shot. This year has been different. Had a 15 piece sounder in Friday evening. I picked out a nice 120# sow for camp chow. Saturday am same bunch came back and I did it again. They will have the message for at least a while and the freezer is full of hams and backstrap. I get the hog panel deal and it does work. I just hate having to tote the corn in over the panels rather than back the Mule right up to it.
Friggin pigs!

on particularly rough days when I'm sure I can't possibly endure, I like to remind myself that my track record for getting through bad days so far is 100%.....and that's pretty good.
