Went to the lease this weekend and it looks like I picked up a snake.
I wear a size 17 shoe(hence the name Bigfoot) so snake boots are just not available for someone like me so I purchased some snake gaiters. Saturday I get back to camp and it is hot so I take my gaiters off (never again) and ate a sandwich. After eating my sandwich I head over to my truck and almost step on a snake. (5 minutes after taking my gaiters off) The son of a gun snuck under my truck and I jumped in the truck to move it because my buddy wanted to pop a cap in it. But it was gone. No sign of it. WTF?
So last night on the hwy some guy pulls up to me and says some giant snake is hanging on the back of my truck. I cant believe what I am hearing and this guy is dead serious and he was freaked out about it. So damn I pull over and look and look and nothing. get home last night all nervous as hell and I go to the carwash and just spray every chemical they have at the carwash all under my truck and then I go home at get bleach and try to drive this thing away.
Anyways not sure where it is if it is in my truck or not but it is killing me. Every time I get in my truck now I have to do a hard target search in the cab. I am not comfortable driving right now. LOL
Damn I hate snakes and I really hate them living in my truck!!!
This is a joke!!! Have one of your buddies call in a report of you hauling 1/2 kg of something and watch the LEOs tear you trk apart. That was a joke.
Seriously you might get one of those big inspection mirrors so you can look underneath without sticking your head under there. I would keep spraying bleach/ammonia in and around it. He could be gone by now or crawled into the inside of a fender. Sounds like snake gaiters will be your new driving attire.
Getting rid of the truck was a thought for sure!! LOL
I figure it is going to be down in the high 30's next week and that should flush him out.
Driving sucks. I felt a twinge on my leg and my hand reacted instantaneously and almost broke my hand hitting the side of the door. I had no idea I had those cat like reflexes.
I am thinking it was a rat snake or an indigo snake by its color. But that doesnt make me feel any better. A snake is a snake and I really dont have a warm fuzzy feeling for them.
Man I'm looking around right now as I read this. With you on reactions that 71 yr. olds aren't supposed to have when "snake" is mentioned, thought of or seen. Luck to you.
Hell I don't know the snake wouldn't worry me. Size 17 shoes... my old roommate wore 15's and could pick up a beer can with his toes. Can you swing a baseball bat with your foot?
Had one that lived in my old travel trailer. One night I was awakened by it crawling over me. Never slept in there again.
I don't have an irrational fear of snakes like many. But I guarantee you I'd have screamed like a girl and that may have been the last sound I ever made.
I slept in an old house once on a hunting trip that had mice nested in the mattress. I woke up a couple of times thinking the mice were on me.
As to the snake, find somewhere that will Let you put the truck on a lift and go over it very carefully. Forget the bleach, Ammonia is your friend. It may chase you out too, but spray as much ammonia around inside of everywhere as you can stand. The snake will leave when it gets hungry.
You could get a rat in a cage and put it next to the truck. The snake will come out and find the rat.
Or just sell the truck.

Had a buddy of mine years ago that was deathly afraid of snakes, so I put one of my boa constrictors in his truck one day before he left. He made it about 300 yrds down the road before my snake crawled out in his floorboard. My buddies & I about laughed ourselves to death watching as he hit the brakes and drove into a bar ditch, jumped out of his truck and took off running. He was very angry, I thought he was going to take a swing at me.
A man that we hunted his place, would catch snakes, and just turn them loose inside his truck! His wife car would not start one morning, running late she jumped in his truck and took off,one came out and she jumped out without stopping, broke an ankle!
I had a buddy who ran over a rattlesnake on the road and it must've flipped up and stuck in the fender - alive. He drove home, went inside, came out a bit later and it was crawling across bed of his truck. He went to garage to get a hoe or shovel to dispatch snake, and when he came back, it was gone. He had left the windows down on the pickup earlier and was convinced it was in the cab, so much so that the truck sat parked with its windows down for several days before he got inside to search. Never found the snake.
