I just cant tell..

At 1st glance, thought he was no more than 3.5

1st pic though looks like he he may be 4.5.. It's tough to make out his tines cause of all the stuff in the background, but he definitely has more mass than most of the bucks we have on cam, and I'm thinking his G2's are at least 10"

What are yalls thoughts?

First impression of body was yes. After studying the head more, I tend to believe 3.5

Could be a bit of a tweener. Born late in the year and not quite 4.5 yet. I can see how it's a tough call. Looks young and fresh like a 3.5, but neck is working its way into brisket like a 4.5. Let's just call him 4.

I'm leaning on 3.5, but I think you are real close on the short side of 10" G2's....Nice buck

My first impression is a mature or 5 yr old buck from those pics. He has the neck muscle/double muscle, width down in his brisket in-between his front shoulders, he appears to be sitting down on his front hooves a bit(not easy to tell walking) and the belly line to show 5 yrs old. His hock pads are rounded and stained but not like they will be in a couple of weeks after those pics. What does not fit a mature deer is his head profile and overall body size. I would not argue 4 or 5 very much, but lean a bit more to a 4 yr old from these photos of him. It would not surprise me if he was really old either, he just does not have the look of a younger buck to me. If he has 7" ear length then I would call his G2's around 9" or so.

I have stared at this buck for to long, zoomed in and out and just keep shaking my head.
Not sure if it is the pictures or just my flat lack of knowledge estimating age.

I use the general guidelines looking at the back is it straight or swaying if so how much or not, belly sagging, brisket protruding, forehead spread, hair around face distinct colors and outlines or mixing with the white/gray in with the brown, the size of hind quarters compared to the shoulders etc.

This buck has just got a weird figure or the pictures do not do it justice. Narrow face and straight back makes me think younger 3.5. Then there is the brisket protruding, belly either bloated or large, hind quarters seem disproportionate larger than the shoulders blended hair around the face which is just probably light and just the odd body structure. I am guessing 4.5 or older and I repeat guessing confused2

fawns are normally dropped in the spring, say april/may, so when october/november comes around they are typically a .5 year old...

His face throws me, too. Looks 3. Super healthy, muscular deer whose body says, 5. Except what little we can see of his neck/brisket. Walking away photo says 4. 3+4+5/3 = 4. I'll go with 4 grin
